It's pretty sad. Things have improved a bit. A quiet meek, sober woman might get better credit if she reports a rape and a slightly better chance of a conviction in a she says /he says situation. (like the vast majority of rapes)
The take away from this is that a woman who is drunk at the time and makes a very public hooha should be treated with enormous suspicion and denigrated until she becomes so ill she withdraws the complaint or SO ill that the prosecution drop the case because to continue risks her life!

The whole thing is a big can of worms with no physical evidence, so comes down to a he-said she-said thing.

Meli is a total hypocrite because she wants the male alleged perpetrator in this case to be tried & convicted - he was in the opposing political party - yet in another alleged rape case, she wants it to be ignored, as the male alleged perpetrator is a member of her political party.

Nobody has any idea how true or not the rape allegation is because there's nothing except her later claim that there was sex at all, and he denies point blank that there WAS any sex.

And no way of determining who is truthful, who is lying or who is so drunk/confused that they don't remember accurately what went on. No DNA, no video, no voice recordings, nothing.

In his position I'd be pretty pissed because I'd rather be tried and have a definitive verdict than this, where the allegation is going to stand forever, with people like Meli making mischief from it.

And FWIW I have no opinion pro/con because there's nothing to base it on. Not proven is the conclusion.
