You got to hand it to INEOS, on the day they hit a new top speed they to go to the trouble of providing the only proof needed to validate the claim
There have been several videos of them in wavesIf I was working on Ineos I would like to get those foils in some waves now to compare reality with their predicted preformance in waves based on the data they now have. Swell direction and size relative to local wind conditions are also going to play a big part on who wins. Everybody looks fast in flat water.
Hey Mozzy, if you need help, I'd be happy to do it. I wrote a bunch of algorithms when we analyzed tracks from the last AC. I could get total distance and maybe filter the data to certain speeds to approximate data while sailing. Not yet, will try to get it from GPS of recon boats in future
Pretty sure we already know it's a real issue.Looking forward to seeing the Alinghi AC40 sailing in Barcelona should be a good indicater re foils and conditions. If they struggle we will know it's a real issue.
Take the cash and STFU if anyone asks about the sea state ok! ;-)Pretty sure we already know it's a real issue.
I noticed this pic earlier today, does it look a little disjointed or am I misunderstanding?![]()
Cup Spy: Feb 10 - Brits and Swiss roll out AC40 OD's
A day after capsizing their test boat, INEOS Britannia has rolled out their AC40 One Design. In Barcelona, Alinghi Red Bull Racing have done the same. The Swiss team have also relaunched their AC75 at their base in Barcelona.www.sail-world.com
Apparent upgrades to, ARBR AC75.
Just an optics distortion camera angle thing I think, stinger.I noticed this pic earlier today, does it look a little disjointed or am I misunderstanding?

It could be that there's a black arm section between the visible arm and the FCS slot, yes. Lots of reflections going on.Just an optics distortion camera angle thing I think, stinger.
nothing really any better... but zoomed inI spy a jib car with no fairing covering it in the Inoes AC40 video @Mozzy Sails Any better still camera shots of it?

If anyone has the time to stick all this data into a large .csv file format with columns as variables and rows as time slices I have software that can take it, clean it up and find any patterns there. If that goes well it is then easy to make a predictive model that could tell you the vmg for any set of variables inputted.Hey Mozzy, if you need help, I'd be happy to do it. I think the difficulty will be that the GPS data is from the recon chase boat. So, there will be a lot of anomalies. If anyone has the time to stick all this data into a large .csv file format with columns as variables and rows as time slices I have software that can take it, clean it up and find any patterns there.
