Requesting help with older Zspar rollerfurler

Hello,

I attempted to revive an older thread about Zspar main rollerfuling and something went awry, so I’m here with a new thread seeking assistance…

I have an early model Zspar rollerfurling main on a Pearson 385. I cannot find or get assistance with diagrams or schematics. I am enroute to the DR for hurricane season and will need to dismantle the roller unit when there. The unit is characterized by a smooth furling drum.

I am open to replacing the unit in the mast. I am open to having a new main made and converting to battcars, but I need to know if the extrusion can handle that.

Any assistance would be appreciated,

Thanks for at least checking out the thread and replying. This is beyond a simple jammed sail. There is something wrong inside the actual furling drum…To your point, some images:

I think I remember that Z-spar stamps the extrusion number in their masts. You may check to see if you can find that somewhere. Probably at the step? Might help when you call US Spars if you have that handy.

The mast is absolutely dead straight, right? No bend whatsoever?

Thanks for your post. Indeed the mast is absolutely straight.

So far I haven’t found the extrusion number, but I’ll look again. I’m hoping that in their files they can recover data about the mast based upon the fact that it is on a P385 boat and only 42 of this model were built…

I did reach out to US Spars and they responded back with a query for more info, images, etc. so I am hopeful that they can assist.
