That doesn't sound good at all - he's the guy who was on GGR Livestreams with Don a few times right?

FCK me!  One of my longest sailing buddies.  This isn't good news to read this morning.  Keeping a good thought all is alright and just overdue.

UPDATE: ROBIN DAVEY

Robin is a friend of the GGR but not officially involved. His Family have issued the Overdue Notice. At the request of UK Falmouth and French MRCC we have provided what information we can about Robin, his boat and movements. He has NOT undergone a GGR safety inspection so we have limited information on what safety and comms gear is on the boat. Other than that we are not involved with efforts to Locate Robin. When we hear anything we will post it here, but we are not expecting to be updated by the FRENCH and UK RESCUE Centers as we are not officially involved. We are in touch with Robins family and obviously hoping for the best. There is some confusion as to weather he has an EPIRB onboard. He has the latest GGR Plastimo Life Raft onboard with 406 PLB and VHF radio inside. It is possible his onboard VHF mast Ariel was not operational on the new mast. #GGR2018.

The seasoned offshore sailor left the French port of Les Sables d’Olonne in his Rustler 36, C’est La Vie on 5 January 2019. He informed his brother that he expected to be back in Falmouth by 8 January 2019.

He had been in Les Sables d’Olonne refitting the yacht, which has a new mast and rigging, to take part in the Golden Globe Race 2022.

Davie, who has solo circumnavigated the world three times, was officially reported overdue on 9 January 2019.

It is understood that Davie, who is from St Agnes in Cornwall,  doesn’t have AIS or an EPIRB, and just a hand-held VHF radio. He does have a liferaft, complete with GPS and a spare VHF.

The luddite GGR mindset proves just a bit problematic once more.

A solo sailor who sparked a search when he was not heard from for six days has sent a radio message to say he is safe, well, and on his way to Cornwall.

Robin Davie, 67, left port in France on his yacht "C'est la Vie" on Saturday for the 300-mile journey to Falmouth.

His brother reported him as overdue on Wednesday morning when there had been no contact.

But on Friday the coastguard said Mr Davie radioed to say he was 25 miles south-west of the Isles of Scilly.

I just posted the news above but I got so excited that I hit post before finishing. What he is doing 25 miles South West of the Scilly's, I don't know, but so glad he is safe!!!!

Fryslan boppe!
AFAIK, conditions for the trip over the last week were pretty ok in the region, he was probably somewhat delayed by contrary winds.

As for communications, this is a pretty busy piece of sea, he almost certainly had other traffic in VHF range for the whole trip.

I would suspect he was unaware that he was reported overdue, and the shore side was a bit hasty in crying ´wolf´
