How about the two Pac 52's hanging with the Volvo 70's and 65's still, after rounding the Barbuda mark.  And one of the V065's hanging with the front V070's.

And how about Sunrise the JPK 11.80?  They are already 5nm ahead of the J/121's, which owe them time, in the first 35nm of the race.  The only other boat in IRC 1 that seems close is the other JPK 11.80, Dawn Treader.

Two of my friends are racing on the Pac52 Callisto, so I know who I’m pulling for.

Skorpios ahead of Comanche by around 1.7 miles with Trifork in 3rd as Leopard went inshore and lost out. Looks like they are beam on and Comanche isn't slow in these conditions and seems a smidgeon faster than Skorpios at the moment. This is shaping up to be interesting.

Yes i am watching those two very closely.....i thought Skorpios seemed faster and higher  and clearly stretching  ahead.I don't know who is supposed to go faster in this wind range......have we had a dead downwind leg yet  ?  Edit   S is 1.4 ahead and shes probably out of the wind shadow first    It is great the tracker updates every five minutes.....i am rooting for the big Indian   later

Plus 1 on the 5 min update! Makes following very fun. Amazing how two boats so different and yet after 143nm of sailing there separated by less than 2 miles. Turning up wind now. I suspect Skorpios will double their advantage on this coming leg.

Sunrise and Dawn Treader (both JPK 11.80s) are neck and neck now. They leading IRC 1 on the water, even though they are two slowest rated boats in the class.

Seems like Pac 52's might be just as well suited to Carib as the Pacific.  Currently 1st and 2nd OA.

Skorpios got out to around 6 miles ahead of Comanche but we're seeing the rubberband effect. ATM Skorpios around 4 miles ahead but they certainly can't drop Comanche off. My take is Comanche is faster beam reaching and downwind surfing conditions and Skorpios slightly faster upwind and perhaps VMG sailing? It's so close these are just my guesses. This is setup like the Middle Sea Race for Skorpios to make one mistake and Comanche to pounce but perhaps the variety of conditions in this race should help the boat that's 25 foot bigger. Leopard finally using it's waterline length to drop the Volvo's off on the upwind legs but some of the Volvo's gain downwind and beam reaching.

fantastic race to follow.

So many battles.

The 52s are hard to beat on IRC.

The 50' tri being in front of Scorpios and Comanche is pretty amazing.

Those JPK are pretty wicked IRC boats

Big long beam reaching leg has started for Skorpios now with Comanche not for off rounding the corner but this may decide the monohull race? Not sure on the exact amount of breeze they are sailing in, the more the better for Comanche, the less the better for Skorpios me thinks? But huge leg that should tell a story
