Linked out is a generation newer than Apivia. It could just be that much lighter. But, probably foil and sail options as well. Charlie has a new boat in build. It will be interesting what changes are made.
Are you sure about that? They were both new boats for the last Vendee. I thought they were launched almost exactly the same time, with the old Charal a bit before that. They both have new boats on the way. Which brings us back to talented ladies getting good boats. Clarisse is getting Apivia! Yay!

Then we have the leading C40s who are in amongst the 20th position of IMOCAs onwards...
this is belying of the old rules of yacht design that length counts...
There is little of old design in this fleet of fixed keels and a budget control of the build....boundaries are being pushed and pushed hard....extraordinary as the sailor is paramount similar to the Series Mini .
'Will we see the new' VPLP 30 of simplicity', bring even more players to the field...??

Yes I was under the impression both boats were the same vintage.

Maxime Sorel explains all the necessary actions onboard his Imoca during one gybe.
Especially the replacement of all heavy bags and sails from one side to another looks tiring to me.

That list isn't very accurate anymore...
As far as I know :

Ruyant, LinkedOut - Koch/Finot-Conq, CDK, 2023

Richomme, Arkea Paprec - Koch/Finot-Conq, Multiplast, 2023

Available - Manuard, Black Pepper Yachts, 2023 (A very good french skipper announced he was going to get this boat, but I can't remember who it was, and if the funding is really confirmed)

Tripon - VPLP, Airbus and others, 2023 (Not sure that this one is actually going anywhere...)

Bellion - Raison, Persico, 2023 (non-foiler)

Le Cam - Raison, Persico, 2023 (non-foiler)
??? - Raison, Persico, 2023 (non-foiler) (Third boat rumored)

Dalin - Verdier, CDK, 2023

[Many boats that are actually finished]

Riechers - Farr/Bertrand/Dupont, Alva Yachts, 2022 (Is this one really gonna happen ?)

APIVIA May 2019
LinkedOut July 2019
Correct !
LinkedOut was directly built in the moulds of Guillaume Verdier's Super 60 that was supposed to be the Ocean Race's new OD.
Apivia is a very slight deviation from the same design.
In the meantime, they have evolved separately, and their foils are more different than one might think. Plus, having been built sooner, Charlie's foils don't (have to) comply with the new IMOCA rules and are therefore bigger than Thomas'. They probably explain most of the difference of performance between the boats (Apivia being strong upwind, LinkedOut downwind).

Pip is on fire!
She's continually climbed up the ranking from 29th to 10th, most of that with a damaged main, i understand that she sails permanently with one reef.
Great routing, some luck for sure - and pure determination.

Really happy for her, that decision to go north really paid off & she’s done super well to keep up the pace with her mainsail issues.

The run in to the finish is gonna go down to the wire though - based on how much the boats arriving so far have been struggling with that passage down the leeward side of the island, potentially places 10-13 are totally up for grabs. 😬

ETA looks like Pip’s having to gybe 3 times to lay her route in… exhausting.

They are detectable on AIS now... Tanguy seems to be having (or have had) a problem, looking at his live track.. Pip looks like she'll be first to cross the Northern gate.. Nailbiting stuff!

Pip impressive as always for input but now a competitive boat,
Romain. .. well ahead of Sam this time and good to see his efforts regardless,
Sebastien the first non foiler [who with Pip tackled the Low with the north passage together]
and Tanguy who I hear ...in the last few days become a father , Clarisse has had a bub.
A very tight group to go around the island together....will this change the order , from before this hour.......entertaining for us, for them at the end of a race when tired but competitive.....
so many different reasons to get to the finish.

Tanguy has broken a rudder (so it is reported- his AIS track was weird, so looks a convincing story) so has slowed down.... I thought he might have pipped Pip to the post, but not now unless something happens

Re ; C40 to IMOCA analogy.

I think Yoyo would make that thing in the picture competitive....the next races we wont know what hits us in the face. Once the new boat launched
But what he has done in this race will always stay in my mind , to go back to the startline to where he is now.....he has a real 'gravitas.'..
