That's arguably true.  We had a Democratic Mayor here that was once accused of not cleaning up after his dog, yet still voted in.  In other words, an asshole. You know... Like Kennedy and Moore.

That's why Republican voters never listen to the candidates themselves. Everybody knows candidates lie! Republicans go to a an info source they like and trust (to reinforce their prejudices) such as Hannity, Limbaugh, etc etc. These guys know what everybody else is really thinking, just ask them.
