I don't know. I don't claim to read people's minds and I have noted that many a poster has backtracked on their position when the party they tend to support also adopts a different position. That's why I am asking.

All I can do is shake my head over this.  I've left both parties in my lifetime, for the same reason.  They were not representing me or the vast majority of people; they represent the few who have it all, and they are willing to do anything to keep representing those people.  This takes "anything" to another level.  I joke about the only thing that President Trump could do to get himself impeached is switch parties, but this story makes it clear that it is no joke; he really could do anything other than switch parties, and maintain support.
