Roy Moore 3rd rail?

December, 2017.  The President of the United States, openly and with apparent enthusiasm, encourages people to vote for a candidate who is an accused sexual predator.  Accused by no less than 8 women.

I don't claim to have seen everything in my 74 years on this planet, but never in my wildest imagination did I think I would ever see this.

Lincoln's party is rotten to the core and Reagan's shining city on a hill is anything but.

Just when you think that American politics cannot get more venial, salacious or despicable we seem to find a new low.

Here's the thing about Alabama voters ... they have a history of electing weak, ineffectual leaders within their state, but they also have a history of electing powerful leaders to represent their state in DC. If they collectively think that Moore will be hamstrung by all of this in bringing industry and pork to their state, then Moore will lose.

Is he hamstrung? He seems to have little support from his own party, let alone anyone else who can make things happen for Alabama's economy, defense contracting, infrastructure development with all these accusations.

I think Moore will lose. Jones isn't exactly a powerful representative yet, but he's more powerful than his opponent for the foreseeable future.

Just about any Republican candidate could have taken Jones. I suspect this gamble won't pay off.

Alabama and South Carolina voters have a proven history of flocking to candidates who can yell "NIGGER !! NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER !!!" the loudest and with the least embarassment. And the local gov'ts are often complicit in preventing anybody other than said flockers from voting.

Is it proper to summarize your position as:

No politician, no matter how heinous the crime, should be held accountable for that crime until...

Hillary Clinton is jailed for her use of a personal email account.

Moore is a shoe in. Just the fact that every news outlet is talking about him, and ignoring Doug Jones is the classic Trump play book.

Distract, deflect, obfuscate.

Now if Doug Jones were to have done something last week, something, like dance naked on the court house steps to a Beatles song.... Or have sex with a hooker on the court house steps, things might be different.

I've lived about the same number of years in Alabama that I've lived in NY State and New Jersey. Alabama is no more inherently racist than those two states. In some ways it's a lot less racist.

But in my view, both the North and South states are probably less accepting and open minded than the Western states. There is racism out West, no doubt, but it's not cemented into our history the way it is East of the Mississippi. Just my opinion.

Christian moral values, of course...... Those values include; Love thy neighbor as you would wished to be loved thyself by them..... (Assuming they are 14 y/o girls)

Do unto others with your CCW BEFORE THEY CAN DO UNTO YOU.

Covet not false idols carved in stone.(Unless I put them on the courthouse steps, heh, heh!)

Be not slovenly of dress, or slothfull of food. (Unless you're at the BBQ place, or Walmart! Then go for it!)

He could say that since the US was punished for gays with 9/11, imagine what God might do to Alabama for electing a pedo to the US Senate. That could not only raise interesting questions in the heads of typical 'bamans, but draw a bit of attention from the media away from his opponent.

I disagree. At least w/ regards to Wa. Or. And Ca. People in those states will tell you anything you want to hear, as long as they think it makes you feel good about yourself, and 10 minutes later they're gutting you behind your back to someone else.

If you want to know friendship, don't go west young man...... Out there lies deceit.

I won't comment on the south on this subject, because I haven't been here long enough. but in my experience, the most honest people are in the North East.

To summarize,  40 plus years ago Roy is reported to have acted boorishly. It is obvious he did not "press on" because no one is saying "rape" IIRC.  One or some of the accusers have changed their story. There is/are current complaints.IRCC

Alabamans would draw and quarter Jones for even suggesting that God would punish them for the unsubstantiated sins of one man...... Sins alleged by wanton young hussies, who were all trying to steal his honor, and lead him into temptation, and a sure fiery eternity in hell, had he not detected their slatternly ways!
