I do not share your faith in the wisdom and character of the people of Alabama.

I think that a person needs to live there a few years, raise children there, plant some trees and build some things there to really see what's behind Alabamans. It takes a while to purge the preconceived notions.

My son was born in Tuscaloosa btw, he's my favorite Alabaman.

I think I will have sufficient evidence to support or disprove my preconceived notions about Alabama by about midnight on Dec. 12th.

I took my daughter to friggen Starbucks (my teenage daughters won't drink the far more delicious gas station coffee) and they had that fucking pay-it-forward bullshit thing going. I should have said "thanks the freebie, and here's the money for my daughter's mocha latte as your tip."

Instead, I was caught a little blindsided by the Battista at the window. She hands me the debit card receipt for $15-some for the lady behind me, the person ahead of me paid for my daughter's $5 coffee. I catch a glimpse of the lady behind me, white Hyundai. I drop my daughter off at school, a few blocks later I'm waiting at a ped crossing, a gal with a bike is waiting to cross, cars keep blowing through the crossing on my left.

Finally the gal thinks it's safe to cross, starts off in front of my truck, I notice the same woman in the white Hyundai for whom I bought breakfast, in my rearview. The coffee-swilling bitch gets pissed, and suddenly cuts out in my left, nearly runs over the girl walking her bike, tears through the roundabout without a thought. I financed that witch's caffeine traffic behavior, she was so oblivious that she didn't even recognize that I was the guy in front of her that bought her breakfast and nearly killed a girl with her selfish rage.

I'm done with coffee generosity until the end of time. I would rather buy a congressman a apeedball of crack and heroin than buy another stranger a coffee.
