"Another PBS talk show star has come under fire for alleged sexual improprieties, with Variety reporting that Tavis Smiley—host of the long-running late-night talk show of the same name—has been suspended by the company after an investigation into his actions. According to a statement by PBS today, their third-party investigation of Smiley revealed, “multiple, credible allegations of conduct that is inconsistent with the values and standards of PBS, and the totality of this information led to today’s decision.”

State leaders from both parties are calling for Johnson’s immediate resignation after the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting (KyCIR) published an expose Monday detailing allegations of how the Republican state representative — and self-proclaimed “Pope” of his Louisville church — woke his daughter’s friend during a sleepover in 2013 and forced himself on her, slipping his hands up her shirt and bra and putting his fingers in her vagina.
“What you did was beyond mean, it was evil,” the victim said she wrote in a Facebook message to him shortly after the incident, according to KyCIR.
Johnson on Tuesday denied the accusations.
“This allegation concerning this lady, this young girl, absolutely has no merit, these are unfounded accusations, totally,” he said, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.
On Wednesday afternoon, he posted a statement on Facebook, and said the country “will not survive this type of judge and jury fake news.”
“GOD LOVES ALL PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT !” he wrote."

(WKYT) - Kentucky State Representative Dan Johnson, who was under investigation for alleged sexual molestation, has committed suicide, according to a report from WDRB in Louisville. Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell said Johnson killed himself on a bridge on Greenwell Ford Road in Mt. Washington, and the gun was recovered. On Tuesday, Johnson said that he had no intention of resigning his seat."

It's pretty easy really. Seats in the House of Representatives are won in small, local elections, unlike the Senate where candidates compete on a Statewide basis.
Here's the formula:
- Show unwavering loyalty to your local State or County party leaders
- Show an ability to raise money in very large amounts
- Live in safe, highly gerrymandered district where the local party favorite almost always wins
- Note: fitness for the position, proven leadership or past experience are preferred, but not required - especially if your money raising skills are legendary
