Go and a call the Canadian consulate and ask, there is a reason that Canadian attorneys are lined up competing with each other to process your application, simply because just like immigration in this country you can do it yourself but it will take much longer.
Back on topic it typically takes a year for a American ham and egger to go through the process with a Canadian lawyer

I have a friend that tried and gave up .
I’ll contact them on Monday with a benign made up conviction and let you know or post the reply , I will do the same with one of attorney services

I suspect it is not absolute BS in the area of seeking a visa to enter Canada, but since US citizens do not need a visa to enter Canada it raises the question of what country vvv lives in. I had thought him US, but he may be Russian.

Not entering Canada at all, does now apply to Russians. Definitely not to people with old dope or DUI convictions, etc.
