If I have to shout I've already failed and it's too late
I think that’s the difference between sailing on open water and sailing on 15 acres like I do . 😀

And there is big difference between knowing your rights and standing your ground and informing other sailors and being ‘ shouty ‘ 😀

Aero as the sailing world needs good modern boats ( which it is ) but I would never own one as I disliked the upwind feel in it so much ( sorry tillerman, this not a comment on the boat just on what I like 😀)

Just curious, what was in the upwind sailing feel that you didn't like?

Whenever you get 100 slow moving, tightly packed, boats converging on a mark there will be people asserting and communicating their rights. It avoids trouble and damage. In my experience of racing in these events it is no different to any other large fleet.

@RobbieB , because it so light, it’s so twitchy and I never felt I could get the boat into the ‘ grove ‘ going up wind ( in a way I could with the Laser and can with the D-zero).
This is made worse because I sail on a tiny puddle so you have to pinch a lot of the time rather than sail a little more free.
I suspect it would brother me a lot less ( or maybe not at all ) if a sailed on open water.

I understand now. I was sailing on open water with wind and waves. The thing just danced over every wave going upwind. It was much easier than the horsing of the boat you have to do in a Laser to keep the bow from nosing into a few of those waves.
