Does rudder average mean the same as rudder differential on A cats?
FR had to be fast, with their accurate pin end starts, to hold leeward position all the way to the 1st mark.

There is an interview (maybe in the Planet Sail vid above) where the FRA helm talks this exact subject. My take from it was that they learned how the fastest teams were using windward rudder foil differential to great effect.

But yes, FRA's starts were spectacular too, especially on day 2 and also including in the Final. They hit that line going fast!

As TS has commented, it's getting hard to hide secrets and so everyone is progressing fast.

Been away for a while. Slingsby said in the round up of the Cadiz event that they were reduced from 6 people to 4 people and he had to do the flight control.

Does that mean the crew numbers were reduced for the final?

Yes. Commentators curse, they mentioned this should play into Aus hands as they have more experience in the low crew numbers.
