Don't get them wet or feed them after midnight. That wont faze them. You end up late at night in a bar in Auckland and you will meet dozens of dwarfish gremlins .

That boat is going to be fucked. Do they have spares?Having done a transatlantic on a boat that had previously been hit by lightning, I reckon it will be entirely new electronics. I wonder if they have time for that...
A Danish sailor also ended up wiht light injuries from the same incident.
Your sample set of one is relevant but remains an anecdote.Having done a transatlantic on a boat that had previously been hit by lightning, I reckon it will be entirely new electronics. I wonder if they have time for that...

I would not be surprised at all if there was none. Remembering that these boats are not designed for extended periods on the water, and don;t go out if the weather is bad...Your sample set of one is relevant but remains an anecdote.
I guess a 29m wing mast is a very attractive lightning conductor. Complications are that the wing is modular and catamarans don't have a nice lump of lead to stick a thick copper cable into.
I would be very surprised if the F50 with all the electronics associated with it hasn't had significant lightning protection built into the design.
turns out they finally finished the new boat that was supposed to be ready for canada at the beginning of the season:There is a surely at least one spare boat in the fleet now that Japan is goneski?
Coming home to go to the doctors. That boat is going to be fucked. Do they have spares?
Hopefully, the loan boat is up to scratch and doesn't scupper the kiwi's last few events.Coming home to go to the doctors.

'Fried' New Zealand SailGP boat ruled out of Sydney regatta
Hot Kiwis will have to use loan boat in quest for US$1m race as their lightning-struck cat is rushed home for extensive testing and repairs.www.stuff.co.nz
Canada seemed to do just fine with itHopefully, the loan boat is up to scratch and doesn't scupper the kiwi's last few events.
Significantly better than being on their own boat, and at least all bedded in, rather than getting a new one with gremlins.Hopefully, the loan boat is up to scratch and doesn't scupper the kiwi's last few events.
one design mate;-)Hopefully, the loan boat is up to scratch and doesn't scupper the kiwi's last few events.
Yes, that's exactly right. some boats are stiffer, some boats have random issues. Some boats are older. It's totally normal for there to be small to not-so-small differences between boats that are still "one design".one design mate;-)
or Could you possibly be suggesting that some moats are more equal than others 😉😂
