Convince my sailing averse daughter to sail with me on one of MIT's Lynx Catboats on the Charles River during her graduation weekend there this May.

My dad was issued the same certificate! Haven't seen it since i was a teenager. He did a full transpac over to Vietnam on a carrier.
That's awesome, I wonder if they still issue "The Golden Dragon."

Nice ice boat!

New year, some new goals, and additions to the bucket list.

I'm interested in hearing what others have on their list.

For me, I want to sail across the 180th Meridian.

Done most things, mainly cruising. Looking at three summers - North Channel via Trent-Severn one way, Newfoundland, NYC-Bermuda for a last time. Then to a daysailer of a special, not too-expensive type, perhaps a converted Etchells. Would love a J100 but too pricey. Sail on the daysailer into my 80s (turn 73 this summer).  Probably shouldn't mention this but lots of land travel.
I know about the Mac race and its a must do in that region. How hard is it to crew on that race? planning my upcoming races

trying to find info on results? nothing on jibeset. how was it?
Word on the dock was that Mama Tried finished first, with Swamp Donkey the first monohull.

Counter clockwise was the way to go.

I went clockwise and had a great day of sailing with only a bit of a park up at RR.

I expect that I ended up pretty solidly in the middle of the fleet.

Really interesting. A guesstimate would say that 90% of these answers are  offshore races.

No mention of St Maartens Heinken Regatta, Antigua Race Week, Cowes Week, Spi Ouest, Cork week, Hamilton Island, etc. I wonder when the shift began towards offshore? Could it be because the initial question had an offshore answer, so people followed suit, or is there a general trend that way anyway?

It chimes with me for sure. I would love to rerun the Transpac this year, and the Fastnet and the Middle Sea...to be honest I would just love to get a day of sailing... :p  but the Offshore is definitely more of an aim than another inshore regatta.

For 2021:
The Trans Superior and the PH Mac solo races are both seriously being considered.

Work-life balance such that I can race in our local regular weekly races again.  (I have missed the last couple years)

Get my son comfortable enough to go racing with me more during our local races.

Take the boat away for a long weekend or 2.  We have done long trips, but every time we plan a weekend the weather ends up TERRIBLE so we cancel.

Actually fly the blooper on my boat.  I have had one for a few years now, but haven't had it flying on the boat yet.

Northwest Passage.

South Georgia, or Svalbard.

Just like dating a supermodel, I'm afraid the Fastnet and Sydney-Hobart are too big for me to even dream
Great races, but there are plenty of competitors in both who are not rockstars. There is no need to count yourself out.

I think the distance races are the bucket races for a lot of people including me

My dream is to stop the leak in my starboard chain plate.
Surely the chainplate itself does not leak.... you must mean the hole in the deck that the chainplate goes thru.

You have my sympathy, those are a pain in the beee-hind
