Its a moot point, as the nukes would not have stayed operational in Ukrainian hands.

At the very minimum, they need replacement of tritium every few years, and refurb for many critical components including the cores every decade or so.

That requires an active weapons program, which they don't have.
They never had the codes anyway. Might have broken them in time but it would've been a long and risky business. The people that put safeties on nukes plan on someone attempting to monkey with them and craft accordingly.

But, as you say, it's moot.

If you know Russia and Russians then you know that everything you read in the media is garbage .

So far Americas care of Russia's invasion of Ukraine has produced half a million dead Ukrainians and a destroyed country …or as the Americans Putin sayscollateral damage "a special military operation".
It’s a failure .
Factually fixed it for you.

Two closing thoughts for the weekend:

#1 The outcome of the Ukraine war is almost inevitable. Even superpowers have learnt that trying to occupy and suppress a large country where the population are determined to be free, are well armed, and see freedom as something worth dying for......will eventually result in withdrawal. That was the lesson of Vietnam for the USA, Afghanistan for Russia and Malaya for Britain.
Ukraine is by far the largest, and well armed nation that has fought to remain independent since the second world war. Anyone who doubts the determination of Ukrainians to be a free nation, and their willingness to die for their country should watch the footage of the Maidan uprising. Fer Chrisakes, they were charging mercenaries firing live ammunition, and they were armed with trash can lids and baseball bats.
Invading Ukraine and occupying Ukraine is an almost impossible task for Russia. The only question is how long it will take and how many lives will be lost before Russia is inevitably forced to withdraw. Even if Russia has a huge military success this summer and drives hundreds of miles into Ukraine. Every yard of their supply chains will be exposed to partisan resistance and sabotage. Russian occupiers will have to stay inside tightly guarded garrisons at night. Meanwhile , all the time, the forces opposed to Russia inside Ukraine will be rearmed and re-supplied by Western economies with a military budget close to 10 x of that of Russia.
Sadly.....the answer to the question of How Long? is that it will take a long time because Russia is controlled by a tyrant who is not subject to the will of his people.
The outcome however is inevitable, because people fighting for their freedom have more stamina than an occupying force.

#2. Most Russian conscripts dont know why they are in Ukraine. It is not their country. They dont want to be there. They would like to be alive and at home. They are being ordered to shoot at and kill the people who live there....but why?
The Ukrainian soldiers know exactly why they are there. They would also like to be alive and at home. But they know that unless thy shoot at and kill the invader, they will have no home.
Ultimately the Ukrainians who die in this war, were fighting for freedom. They should not have to die but they will be viewed as heroes. The Russians that die in Ukraine will be lost brothers, fathers, husbands and sons, needlessly lost for a lost cause in furtherance of the pride and ego of a tyrant who has made billions of dollars for himself and his cronies .

Yep, that is a major problem with current Russian non free media.

So far Americas care of Ukraine has produced half a million dead Ukrainians and a destroyed country …or as the Americans say …collateral damage .

What is your alternative?

Maybe blame where the blame belongs, Kreml started the special operation, not the Americans.

Interesting interview with a pro diver in the German newspaper “DIE ZEIT”. Title (and summary): “My mom could have done that.”

BTW, Is there a translation / free source available of the article?

Yep, it seems strange why people argue its somewhat super hard and complicated dive wise - or even here claim those 200+ dive tanks or something silly along those lines is required.

80 meter is really not that deep anymore, not with modern dive equipment, gas mixes and rebreathers. It used to be considered deep, but that was decades ago.

Heck, PADI has recreational diving courses teaching anyone to dive to those depths:

This is a diver with all the equipment required, can you fit that in a 50ft sailboat?:

It might take as long as the right life is taken I am afraid - right about now would be a time to make history for Russian von Stauffenberg.

America doesn’t give a dam about Ukraine .
Americas proxy war is to break the China , Russia. Europe economic link and enable America to live beyond its means… last year you consumed one trillion dollars more than you produced

You are one whack, twisted motherfucker. If you hate America so much, then stop using this American website, stop using any American made parts, or parts made by companies based in the US on boats you work on.

Btw, America isn’t bombing Ukraine you fucking imbecile, Russia is.

Interesting article on how to make a simple DIY acoustic modem - like the one enabling the bombs in discussion to be remotely armed and timers set at later chosen date:

It is not rocket science nor nation state level stuff.

Only detail bothering me is choice of explosive for this job. Maybe semtex is available easily enough and makes shaping the charges simpler, but anfo would simpler in many other ways, could be mixed onboard, plus it floats slightly so it would be very easy to handle underwater, no need for lift bags etc - few simple led weights or some anchor chain would do the job.

The nation state level secret and super-complex-impossible-for-amateurs-even-to-try-to-manufacture-shape required for cutting a pipe can be found on wikipedia for all to see:

Lets keep it secret what the red part is.

geez - are we all gonna get a visit from the fbi just for reading these posts? lol.

I hope not, as all the information is public. It is just ridiculous to claim that this is somewhat extremely complicated or requires a diveshops warehouse worth of gear to complete.

Only thing that is hard here is doing it without getting caught, and this they seemingly failed, yes - and even a nation state class player might find this rather difficult?

Maybe they should globally ban boating, sailing and diving - and amateur electronics?

Link (paywall).
the diver might know how to dive. and mom too. but mom couldn't have layed a bomb that registered as a small earthquake in Sweden. that's just dumb. some military analysts feel the blast too extensive - bombs too big and deployed over too large an area - for just divers to have been involved, even military experts.

ps: there is a difference between 'what it might take' to blow the pipeline. vs. what they have actually seen of the wreckage on the seafloor.

so, what was this "group of tourists" doing on the charter yacht? wrong answers only.. lol.

I am no expert in this field but an energy release "equaling 500 Kg of TNT" might in reality take much less than 500 Kg of stuff if you use some modern plastic explosive. I think he talked about a 1:15 ratio for Semtex... The exact postion of the tubes is marked in every chart because, y'know, you shouldn't anchor there.

perhaps I didn't explain the evidence on the seafloor well enough. the pipeline way "overblown". that is, it looks like a military job because they didn't just fracture it. they blew it all to shit. as in: way, way more than they needed to. iow how a military might do something anticipating problems. as apparently is not uncommon with explosives this deep.

so again. grandma is not responsible.
