Whole report not about were the pipes exploded.
the other report a pre construction study.

Here is a survey pic of NSP1 from 2014:

Spot the massive shielding layer of concrete, as "the guys" told?

Now please share some real source for the pipes being not laid as stated and documented in multiple sources, laying there in the bottom just like that?

This is very important detail, as if the pipeline was indeed under concrete armor as "the guys" are telling, it changes everything.

Actually why did they not blow it up in the German section, much easier.
there are a few mysteries here. another is the fact that the pipes were not hit at shallower spots - where you would expect a diver to swim. but instead, the locally deeper sections were targeted.

perhaps granny has a PADI III certificate for underwater demolition via ROV?

According to all the evidence so far, it indeed seems very doable for a reasonable fit granny with maybe some paramilitary backgroung/training as a bonus and with a PADI tec ccr 100 certificate
damn. and you say you aren't an expert?

Shallower spots already mentioned the pipe is not exposed, plus those waters are observed and patrolled much more closely.

Padi does not offer such certification currently unfortunately. And I was suggesting DPV, not ROV.

But many militaries around the world offer such a course for free. I've heard there is one in Coronado Island highly ranked as very entertaining, you get to see all the local sights, and food is decent.

I am not, never claimed to be one.

Though I do have some CCR training, and if pushed, could most likely do a 80M dive with one - but that is hardly unique.

I mean with CCR diving deep is not a challenge really, the water is the same at 10M and 80M - doing it safely is, dealing with "anomalies" without dying and that sort of thing.

Actually due to pressure gradient, diving deep it gets easier to control your buoyancy and equalizing etc is also simpler.

why the Bavaria 50?

Maybe every Hanse was booked?

What less suspicious boat would you propose? A floating Sauna pontoon they hire in many spots nearby?

What is your motivation on making this sound like a super complicated operation, when it is not?

I have been thinking about this, this cannot be ruled out, but it would make a little sense for them to do this.

Then again, it did not make much sense to pack the parade uniforms for the upcoming Kiev victory parade, but they still did so.
My realization was that how much revenue the Russian gov't would lose thereby, how much it might cost to repair the pipeline, was the pipeline insured, who gets the repair contract vs. how much Russia would be willing to pay to fracture the coalition?

If you don’t lose that much revenue and it turns out that the pipeline is fairly cheap to repair with a EU/western insurance company on the hook for it and you get to reward one of your own cronies with the lucrative repair contract it seems like a no-brainer because for sure. Russia would probably be willing to pay 10 times their own cost to fracture the coalition.

One explosive charge failed to detonate

They have this explosive but will not release the documentation
The explosive charges were 1000 lbs

Industrial size weight

Only a state actor could handle and set in deep water times 4 explosives

Not a baveria sailboat job
I'll put all my money on the US did it...we're the only beneficiaries of this act. Now the Europeans HAVE to by our LNG...

Ummm...fishing boat?

A fishing boat without an AIS is a sure way to draw attention, and in addition to officials, they spy and rat each other constantly for lesser things... so I would still stick to the sauna pontoon with a christmas tree and a jacuzzi pool on aft deck?

Or a sailboat.

A private fishing boat? More than a chartered sailboat?
Most charter boats are installed with AIS. If you turn off the AIS, then all kinds of bells go off at the charter base (although in my experience it takes 12-24 hours before they get really pissy). Your cell phone and your radio will crackle into life. If you turn it off accidentally, it is very embarrassing.

A private fishing boat without AIS? Welcome to the Chesapeake.

I'll put money on the US either supporting, applauding or even providing the people that did it. However the clear beneficiaries are Ukraine, Ukraine's supporters (which is most of Western Europe and the US) and Ineos.

We wish we could send Europe more LNG to help out...and gas is as cheap as chips in the US ,,,,,but our transport logistics are maxxed out. Building another LNG terminal and all the accompanying liquification plants is a 3-5 year project. The LNG carriers also take years to come and the existing ones are all spoken for.

Not in Baltic Sea, I would say.

There are large patches where boats disappear from ground reception, its quite a big sea.. Like crossing between Gotland and Baltics or Bornholm to that direction.

And if sailing in low winds, it will take I would say 48-72h minimum before anyone starts missing you.

Yep - I'm not an expert either, but have done a few dozen 80m+ dives on CCR. Occasionally doing some light salvage type activities on the bottom as well.
With a DPV and close to neutrally bouyant explosives, this wouldn't be a big deal. 2 hours surface to surface, the yacht wouldn't even need to anchor. (although it would help if you could drop a shot line to slide the explosive down). Do it during an extended lunch stop - if anyone asks you just stopped for a swim, or to catch a fish etc. Once the divers are on deco they could drift along under the boat on a line, so you'd only need to be in one place for 1/2 hour or so.

Actually, in 80m of water it's be pretty doable open circuit as well, without too much gear. Light trimix (15/40 say) on the bottom, couple of sling tanks for deco (50% and O2 perhaps). Still be out of the water in under 2 hours, needs 4 tanks per dive. So 16 tanks total for 2 divers in 2 locations. Or less with a compressor on board.

These dives are done routinely all over the world, from boats smaller than a 50ft yacht. I know grandmother aged folks who could do it just as easily and who have many deeper and longer dives than me.

.
and that is different for fishing vessels because.........?

Fishing vessels have an excuse for being relatively static in one place. Sailing vessels tend to be moving from Point A to destination at port B. They don't anchor and lower the swim platform in the middle of the Baltic sea.

If I was running this operation, I would use a fishing vessel and my AIS would go on the blink for 6 hours, because I hit a big patch of Cod that I didnt want my competitors to know about.

In all my years of running Navy Seal and Ranger teams, I never used a Beneteau as an operational platform. :)
