Back on topic. No way some dudes from your above video in a sailboat blew up that pipeline. What a joke. It was a clear unconstitutional act of war against another nation. Just like the drone strikes of the past.
Ermmmm. Which nation?

Those pipelines were not owned by a nation.

The business interests of Mikhail "Dirty Mike" Friedman, Petr Aven and Vlad Putin including their controlling interests in Nordstream were acquired with coercion and strong arm tactics including violence.
The next largest shareholder is Gazprom who needs no introduction to these forums.
Mikhail is rumored currently to be facing charges in the UK of money laundering and fraud. In Spain he is reviled due to the 77,000 tons of Russian fuel oil dumped by one of his tankers on the Galicia coast and two "raids" on Spanish companies, a technique used by the Russian mafia” with the purpose of taking over a business illegally. He got off the hook and subordinates took the fall.

I would have preferred that Germany simply close the pipelines as part of sanctions, but Im not shedding any tears for the owners of the pipelines.

that a 50 foot party boat - could carry half a dozen commandos plus dive gear sufficient to descend to 80m and successfully plant the tons of explosive required - three times - defies belief!

You most need a two diver team of two or three, each with a airline cabin carryon sized rebreather, less than ten gas bottles, a pair of DPVs and a few float bags.

Jj-ccr vs revo are proven brands of rebreather, for them 80 meter is not deep. For example, the amateur recovery operation in Norway Plura cave was much deeper.

Each dive is around two hours surface to surface, including final deco in shallow waters on 100% oxygen. This final deco could in theory be done hanging on to a line and sailboat moving slowly away from the scene, in a habitat even maybe?

Everything fits comfortably on one normal sized single bunk or two sailbags.

The detonator can be long delay, either manually initiated or with a initiation via sound signal. Those are in use with every Baltic Sea or I guess any sea facing nation / navy - or a hobbyist could build one.

I mean, is there even any room left over for beer at that point?

Yes.

And very helpfully they left dozens of these pipe sections on public display all around the baltic sea:

Easy to analyze, measure, even take a sample.

Since this was a reply to my post, I will dignify your Slavic drivel with a reply.
Obviously you prefer the Russian constitution.
Article 81 which was supposed to limit the President to two terms is ignored.
But article 87 allows the Russian president to introduce martial law at his sole discretion without consulting any elected representatives.

The supreme irony of a Russian apologist suggesting that Americans are lemmings is both humorous and sad. A criminal thug has taken control of Russia, destroyed its fledgling democracy, stifled any move towards a free press and leaves its people without access to information to think for themselves.

I hate the polarization of American politics between the radical right and the radical left but I would rather have that and allow both of them to argue and present their views than the complete absence of political freedom that exists in Russia.

You may hate the views of some or even many Americans, but at least they are allowed to express them.

Yes

I am not answerable to my neighbors. I like my neighbors. They care about me and I care about them . We have things in America called neighborhoods and communities. You dont have to participate but whether it is the hood in Harlem or a farming town in the Midwest, people are connected and we have things called local elections.

God? In the US we have a separation of church and state , and the freedom to worship enshrined in our constitution. Nobody can force you to worship anything, and you are free to worship as you wish.

My conscious? What part of your Russian conscious thought it was okay to invade Ukraine?

Hell yeah. have you read my posts?

Just got back from a 18 hour road trip across 7 states. I didnt show papers once. Can you do the same thing in Russia?

I am glad that I am required to pass a driving test. I am glad that I would have to prove my identity in order to qualify for benefits paid for by American taxpayers.

Im a doctor. That's a dumb question to ask me.

Yes. I live in a nation with a rule of law which protects property. I travel a fair amount and I musts say that I feel safer in America than many other countries. Of course we can do better and should do more for communities with higher crime rates than they should have. There are countries which provide a safer environment but Russia is not somewhere I would feel safe owning possessions.

Absolutely not.

Maybe that can happen in Russia but not here.

Yes

Yes

Yes. I can move my money anywhere I want. I can convert it into gold, corn, oil, pork, CDs. I can lose it on the stock market, or change it into Turkish lire. I can buy a home or place bets at the local Native American casino. I can give it away or hoard it. It is mine to do what I want with.
Have you seen how many hoops you would have to jump through to do any of those things with a few Russian rubles?

I own four guns.
Militias are for children, but if that is your thing, I recommend you play paintball at weekends.

If they want to get relected.

I'm trying not to. But if you crawl around in the mud, its hard to avoid stepping on you.
Have you been to russia ?

do you know Russia people ?

probably more than 70 scuba tanks of trimix necessary - and possibly as many as 200.

Where do you get these numbers from? You gonna run a dive shop there?

All the (four?) dives could most likely be done on one full load of onboard tanks and sorb on a CCR set, if stretched. Bailout tank or two per diver, but those would not be touched. No need to bring the whole warehouse along.

Have you been to russia ?
Yes. It is a beautiful country.
do you know Russia people ?
Yes. Both in Russia and outside Russia. They were warm, welcoming fun people. I found them to be generous, thoughtful and intelligent. Nor do I think I met an unrepresentative minority, I suspect that most Russians are the same.

I have not met, nor do I know any Russian oligarchs or Russian mafia. I suspect I would not like them. In much the same way that I would not like members of the drug cartels in Latin America and the USA, or underworld thugs in Marseilles.

I dont think that every German is Adolf Hitler. I dont think that every Russian admires Stalin or Putin. What has happened in Russia after Yeltsin is a tragedy. We (the West) share responsibility for what happened. The West could not fully shake off the cold war mentality. We failed to welcome and support Russia's fledgling democracy. There was too much suspicion. The Russian candle was snuffed out when Putin and his thugs gained power.

It was decades before Russians understood what a manic tyrant Stalin had been. I believe there will eventually be a free and democratic Russia and Russian historians will not be kind to Putin. There is no role for the West to play in that process.

However the West does have a role to play in supporting Ukraine and helping Ukrainians remain free from the tyrant Putin's rule and free to choose their own leaders, make their own treaties and remain a sovereign independent nation.

If you know Russia and Russians then you know that everything you read in the media is garbage .
America doesn’t give a dam about Ukraine .
Americas proxy war is to break the China , Russia. Europe economic link and enable America to live beyond its means… last year you consumed one trillion dollars more than you produced
So far Americas care of Ukraine has produced half a million dead Ukrainians and a destroyed country …or as the Americans say …collateral damage .
It’s a failure .

Typical response of the tech industry which devalues their applications worth: "I created a website to encourage open communication (in this case "anarchy") oh wait, someone said something I didn't like, so I'm going to take the ball away from that person so they can't play." Talk about hypocrisy.
One of the rules is that you can be flicked for any reason if the moderators want. They call it the prick flick. Try and see how long you last, they can be capricious and you can sit out!

Underwater modem 64kbps depth rating max 300 meters, horizontal range multiple kilometers:

Something like this or custom made to arm/program the fuses. Smallish primary lithium battery will last for years, and you can program the execution time when all the packages are in place - or at any later date you wish.

In theory these could be pre-installed upon building the pipeline, just in case they are needed, no need for any divers.

Too bad we talked Ukraine into giving up their nukes. Just saying.

Its a moot point, as the nukes would not have stayed operational in Ukrainian hands.

At the very minimum, they need replacement of tritium every few years, and refurb for many critical components including the cores every decade or so.

That requires an active weapons program, which they don't have.

Slug, I mostly appreciate your opinions when they concern matters pertaining to sailing, cruising and maintaining sailboats. Your strident anti-American opinions are yours and your right to express them here and elsewhere is unchallenged but, in this instance, you are completely full of shit. Let’s consider the incongruity of your ranting. The Ukrainian people, nation and landscape have been undeniably ravaged, trampled and raped by this conflict and it is accurate to say the West’s support has to a major extent enabled this to continue. So, when was he last time you read of any, ANY, Ukrainian citizen pleading “Please, please, PLEASE don’t send us any more weapons, ammunition or supplies to continue this bloodshed!”? Oh, wait……there are Ukrainians in danger of being cut off in Bakhmut, a strategically meaningless city, whom I guess you would characterize as lackeys to American proxy imperialism, refusing to withdraw, saying in effect, ”Fuckit, if we withdraw we will just have to fight them somewhere else so it might as well be here.” I’m pretty sure they would answer with one voice: “Send us more weapons, ammunition and supplies and we’ll stop these bastards here, then kick them out of the rest of our country.”

although I guess the sad reality is that what russia deems perfectly acceptable. even something that represents solid family friendly television to them - is proof of genocide to the civilized world.

that's who we are dealing with here.
