It was a fun weekend for all of us, and I was privileged to get to shoot such a photogenic group of girls. If you'd like to see all the edited shots from all the action this weekend, please check them out here. You can order prints or download the full-resolution files for a small fee - all of which goes directly to a very needy charity; it's called the Fund for Mer's New Lens.
Thanks for tuning in to our coverage, and thanks for all your support!
how come there are so many young teenagers onboard for a regatta?
mandatory to have one crew under 16 (18)yrs?
weight-limit and some crews just filled up with local optimist sailors?
charity race to get the youngsters of the local sailing club racing on big boats?
or are there just so many parents racing that brought their childs along?
Does anybody know?
I mean.. there have even been rules under IMS allowing additional 50kg (110lb) of crew weight without a rating penalty, if one crew member is under 14..
great to get in younger sailors for the weekend regattas
The fleet worked with the junior sailing program out of LYC and each boat took someone aboard Saturdays race. It was a great idea and the kids had a blast. There is a video on one of the threads of Clean interviewing the kids about it.
I'd also like to say to Mer, I love your work. We asked and you delivered some beautiful shots of the women sailing. Inspirational stuff.
