Sailor of the Month

Veal's performance was so much more impressive than the winners of a close AC - just total domination. But I'll go out on a limb here, and say that Bladerider founder Andrew McDougall (SA'er "AMAC") deserves even more recognition than Rohan. Here's why:

1) Dude mortgaged his life to start Bladerider and "build a better Moth" for the world to experience.

2) Designed foils, designed sails, all on his own, even creating his own software to do so.

3) Persevered in the face of endless naysayers around the world, especially about the BR rudder foil.

4) Recruited Veal and the rest of team BR.

5) Led team BR to 1,2,5,6,9 at Worlds. Amac was the 6th spot, at 50-something years old on one of the most physical boats there are, at one of europe's windiest venues.

6) Encouraged the BR team to "put it all out there" on blogs, websites, etc. allowing moth fans to stay on top of things.

Nice job bro.

I feel that taking away gear failure and temporarily forgetting he was on port, TNZL sailed more consistent, less flyers, more commanding.

Sailor of the Month
Nominate

Seahorse Magazine has a Sailor of the Month contest in every issue, and for this month they thought it would be fun to see who the Anarchists might choose. So, pick the sailor, give the reason why in 30 words or less, and post it in the forum. We need all responses by the 11th so get to it and have fun!

I like Rohan but Robert Scheidt should get the vote for about to win the Star Worlds in true form in one of the most challenging classes in the world and being used as an Olympic Quailifier for most countries.

I nominate Storm'n NORM ANDERSON- all around kick ass SF Bay Sailor and good guy. I'm sure the rest of my NV Melges crew will agree with me and also nominate Norm. Get what's yours Norm!

Baird & Veal are both good choices; twixt the two I'd go with Veal just because he is not participating in a internationally televised, super high profile, multi million dollar entry fee event.

This is anarchy after all, and we're supposedly in support of non-mainstream types, yes?

Nominating Baird is an insult to everyone on his team that put him in that position.

Nominate Team Alinghi instead.

But I'd name Veal. Unlike Alinghi, Veal dominated.

Ed, question, do they have to be alive? cause I'm voting Mike Plant.

If they have to be alive, I guess Rohan.
