This is a shout out to all riggers and trimaran gurus..there is no rigger here on Vava'u and I just put my mast back up, looking for advice on rig tension.

Previously the mast was not straight, there was a 4" difference at the top leaning to stbd. (Using a tape measure from center mast head to outer hull) Also the rigging was very tight.

I am not racing, just leisurely cruising. Aside from trying to get the mast straight,  any suggestions re rig tension?

She is cutter rigged with running backs. Aluminum mast. Wood boat.

Thanks.

Hi Chrissy,  Center the rig with the uppers (snug), straighten the mast with whatever is below (diamonds, lowers, etc).  You should have enough tension on the windward shroud so that the leeward shroud goes slack when going to windward in a moderate breeze. Sail from one tack to another and sight up the mast, tighten your diamonds or lower shrouds to straighten the mast.

Thanks morello, I will be launched tomorrow and plan to sail asap. All looks straight now, will see how it looks when I put the sails up.

Your real name was apparently mentioned in the first reply to your post. No big deal really and it happens every now and the but outing someone is one of the few rules here. Welcome to this weird gang, Chrissy.     Some members use their real names.

Well, you didn't divulge the whole name and as a newbie you might get a pass. Good luck with that SeaRunner mast.
