Looking for ideas for our seasonal race marks. We currently put in 8 race marks each season. They have been taking a beating from the power boat traffic. What do you use for your marks?

Nuns, black cans, and candy canes were always the marks when I was racing.

I heard of big orange buoys w/ flashing lights on one course, but I must have been off course, because I never saw them, and somehow ended up in  Ponce, Puerto Rico, instead of Hamilton, Bermuda....

We had orange plastic garbage cans on foam filler tires fie a long time.

Seemed to work well and didn't leave any permanent marks if you touched one during a mark rounding

My club has set marks for the last 30 years.  My club has retrieved marks from faraway beaches for the last 29 years.  For a few years we had a local commercial fishing tug help retrieve anchors for our compass rose course.  There was always plenty of fishing lures in the ground tackle of the marks to keep the commercial guys smiling.
