If he deliberately ran over a person and killed them, he definitely should be charged appropriately. Dunno what the state laws there are, here it would be 1st degree vehicular homicide which is basically murder by car, and sentenced the same as murder.

There are several differences... one is that I don't have a problem at all criticising Rep. Waters' statements. Nor do many other people including Democrats and national media. OTOH there is a big problem in finding Republicans who will directly condemn appeals or even directives to violence from various RWNJ figures.

Another big difference is the statements themselves. Did Rep. Waters urge people whom she -knew- to be carrying weapons (including guns) to "fight like hell" and spend over an hour whipping them up with violent rhetoric and directives to use violence?

Another big difference is the result. Republicans urging violence has become such an accepted part of US politics that my local school board has gotten death threats. One person issuing threats is actually a former Republican candidate for the school board, himself.

This is no fucking way to run a country.
