Should Joe Biden deliver the State of the Union Address from the White House?

I think a lot of the far-right RWNJ brigade are cowards, the human equivalent of fear-biters. Confronted with something really drastic, looking over the cliff will scare most of them into doing something different than they talk boldly of beforehand. Unite to vote a black woman off the island, hell yeah. Unite to give a guy they hate, and were willing to block, ultimate power? I don't see that as the most likely outcome, but like I said, they themselves don't know WTF they're going to do this evening much less next week.

If the worst does happen, and several nutjobs (Congresspeople, for Bog's sake!) pull weapons and fire at the President and VP, then I would anticipate a well-rehearsed rain of fire from the many USSS agents in the chamber.

The assailants would be taken down, as well as anyone else sporting a weapon, and the House chamber secured tighter than a camel's asshole in a sandstorm.

As everyone is escorted to the one exit, they will be searched. Anyone possessing a weapon will be arrested as an accessory.

The assassins are almost certainly poor shots, so I would suspect (and hope) that the P and VP get away with minor wounds. But that's still enough to have all the surviving perps spend a load of time in some windowless basement answering questions while they face trial.

The president of the United States of America will be announced upon his entry on to the floor of the United States House of Representatives on February 7, 2023.

The voice of the sergeant at arms will bellow, “Mr. Speaker, the President of the United States.” The Congress, Supreme Court, Joint Chiefs and president’s cabinet will all be there. The government of the people, by the people, for the people will have assembled under the Capitol Dome to hear President Biden deliver a constitutionally mandated report on the State of the Union.

The man sitting behind him will be the Speaker in Name Only who may be the most callow man in a chamber overfilled with them. He is the leader of a hive of extremists, grifters and conspiracy theorists who shame their duty and oaths with each lie, and represent a profound threat to American democracy. This should not be glossed over. The greatest threat America faces towards its prosperity, stability and domestic tranquility is from the elected representatives of the Republican/MAGA party. Together, they are a cesspool of malice, idiocy and incompetence. They stand alone and apart across 247 years of American independence as singular and exceptional for their lowness of character and the stench of its derelictions.

Seated in front of the president will be the justices of the United States Supreme Court. The reputation of the Supreme Court has been wrecked by the stench of corruption and extremism that flows from three men on the court: Thomas, Alito and Kavanaugh.

Thomas’s wife is a former cult member who gave up communal living for political extremism. Ginni Thomas was deeply involved in the events leading up to January 6, and her involvement within the web of fascist groups and organizations that threaten American democracy is deep. Her conduct is as outrageous as that of her husband, Clarence. Samuel Alito is almost certainly the leaker of the draft abortion opinion that destroyed comity, trust and integrity among the justices and the American people. Brett Kavanaugh spent the Christmas holidays attending parties within the extremist community, like the one he attended with Matt Schlapp, who joins Clarence and him as being a credibly accused sexual predator.

There will be no place on the floor of the House that is shown on Tuesday night that doesn’t contain a wretched image of a member who has turned their job and oath into a laughing stock. There will be no space where there won’t be a culprit visible who broke the trust of the American people. The State of the Union in our troubled era is always a bit majestic, farcical, performative, shallow, and sometimes, contradictory. It is an anachronism that has been styled into a long list of aspirations that presidents enumerate, while seldom achieving. There is very little chance that the president will report the State of the Union as anything other than good. But is it?
