Hauled out for the dreaded 10 year out-of-water insurance survey a couple weeks ago.

Still in the yard.
Survey went well. I hit a rock in the causeway at Shilshole (between J and K dock) and having that fixed (just a dimple in the leading edge of the keel) and having my strut looked at.
But...

This is my Classic 3 blade Max-prop. I must have lost the zinc just after putting it on because I had a ton of corrosion.
Took the prop into PYI and had them look at. It is an old prop (2001?). Been rebuilt twice while I had it. Has a lot of miles on it.
Jerome at PYI said, well...you could rebuild it but it is really worn out (the gears). The rebuild will last, maybe, two years. Then he showed me a new four blade...fuuuuuuuck.

So here I am at work paying for that beauty. Whereas my old Max-prop almost needed two to three people installing it, this one was a breeze.
CSR is painting the bottom as well. Going with Sharkskin. They highly recommend it. I have been using Americoat (was branded in Mexico as Comex) something or another. The fishing fleet uses it. We shall see...

Beer Mayhem - please please please post your judgements on the 4 blade vs 3 blade as soon as you have some motoring time in. I'm very curious to see if there is much difference at this size range. I've installed quite a few 3 blades, really like them

Will do. I'm very interested in that myself. The price point wasn't too far away from a new 3 blade. Rebuild of my old Max-prop was half the cost of a new 4 blade so...

Been talking to Jerome about the same thing with our three blade on the SW42. I have a new 3-blade sitting there waiting to pick up, but I think we're going to go ahead and do a four blade. I can't imagine there's much drag difference, and I bet the four is light years smoother, besides the rating should account for it. 🤞
