Well tahoe is about to open and we are getting snow this weekend and next week. Looking forward to working from the cabin more this year and skiing more as well of course. Just ordered a second pair of skis to go with the Volkl M5 Mantras, getting some 2023 Elan Ripstick 106 Black Editions for the fresh snow days. Looking forward to trying my first pair of fat skis!

I earned my life time pass after 20 yrs working at Copper Mountain, there's no urgency to get up there. In fact my wife and I plan on spending a much greater percentage of our time away from the cold this year. With my luck it will be an epic year like we had just a few years ago.
Looking out the shop office window right now to lots of fresh snow, hopefully it will continue.

I have to run a 4.5 hours super slab 80 mph gauntlet of silliness to get to the cabin at the lake and then it takes me two days to acclimate so this year I am going to try and live there for a week or so at a time. You live in a nice town for sure there already at altitude.

Finally skied first day yesterday with one son. Very nice day at homewood. Place was deserted. The new elan ripstick black editions were awesome on the hard and then somewhat slushy groomers. Rained all day today with 2nd son also up so we just had a nice slow day at the cabin but tomorrow looks like a break in the weather and some cold new snow falling tonight.

Dawn patrol this morning for some powder turns before the riffraff shows up. Good number of folks using the skin track which is nice to see. Still a bit thin in spots but should be in condition after another round of storms this weekend.

You'd think chair sits had more in common with wall sits, but no. Walking like a baby giraffe.

First winter in Austria since Covid. It pretty much sucks so far. Temperatures slightly above 0; no powder, only rock-hard icy artificial snow above 1000m, if at all. We didn’t bother going up today but spent the day shopping in the valley.

Two days of fresh snow in a row. Now it’s supposed to rain 6 inches in 24 hours and then more snow so skiing again on Sunday. Two days with nothing to do but play backgammon and read books.

The weekend at Palisades Tahoe - after a lot of rain Thursday and Friday, the snow level dropped earlier than expected delivering multiple feet of snow on Saturday. New Year's Day was crowded but epic.

We had to dig the cars out three times it snowed so much. Snow was too heavy for me though on New Year’s Day. Resorts werent staffed for the amount of digging out of lifts etc. At Homewood they had one chair running by 0915. Rest of lifts weren’t all running until noon. I went home and came back after lunch. North Star did not begin loading the gondola and chair at the base until noon. My younger son got 4 runs in before they closed. Lines were biblical. My first two week stint up at the cabin. Shoveling a lot of snow.
