Since I’m the one taking care of the shitbanging line bargers here in the US, I don’t need to hear about your hard work informing the Sailing community about the basic rules of seamanship on this thread. 

I’m actually doing something about it.

I’ve been scewed out of 2 good starts in a row along with others  by a ling time rules blind idiot. I addressed it in several emails to the committee and they sent out an email to all to be “considerate” at the start of the beercan races. Nicely worded. This week they will talk to that person about it and if they do it again that are out for the season. I have tons of skin in the boat game here and they don’t need me walking away due to disgust at consistent and pervasive rules violations by one or a few.

Yup. I was asked to hold off on protesting 2 weeks ago when they came around the pin end 30 seconds early and drove down on me and my perfect start. Week before -same thing. A blast email was sent out to cover this problem and it occurred again. I’ll be protesting tonight.

I’ve held off because I restored the boat 54 years ago. It’s now beat up from neglect and abuse and have had nothing but slander since. Did a great job for someone that doesn’t like to pay for what they order so I’ve avoided any contact. That will change tonight

Hope the guy bustin' the line gets squared away - do you think he's clueless, or just hoping to keep getting away with barging the line?

That’s 4 years ago, sorry! And I think this person and her entire crew are just ignorant to the rules and I know them all.

I’m on starboard 20 seconds to the start and they’re Ive so they just sweep around the pin and under some bigger boats and wedge into my spot and start heading down for clearer air. My crew is calling up!up! and their crew is telling her down! Down! 

I had a good customer(from the new sails thread) leeward and on starboard and he wouldn’t give and inch( understandably) and my boat is in Bristol condition and I’m NOT getting hit  under any circumstances. She’s on a collision course with me and I had to bag my sails and let those 2 squeeze ahead. That ain’t fair... He had clear air and she got bagged heavily with me in tow. I broke free of her gas and beat her by 3 minutes to the windward mark and 10 at the end of the race.

I’m going to have to start at the dock end of the line to avoid her and I’ll still beat her around every mark.

So you wrote to the committee.....did you protest the other boat.  If not stop bitching about it and expecting someone else to take care of it for you.  If you did protest them - good on you.

The committee explicitly asked the entire fleet to reedrain from protesting to see if the offender would do it again. She did and it will be dealt with this evening if need be. 

The committee explicitly stated “ it is not our intent to hear protests in this light hearted regatta”. I responded that under the rules of Sailing it is the committees duty and responsibility to hear protests if we are Sailing under US Sailing rules. So there. I did something

And I’ll protest the committee if they refuse to hear a protest. They already know I don’t want to race because of this shit and they like and respect me.

And in the earlier post I didn’t mean I know all the rules. I meant all the crew on the boat I was talking about.

Me and twin bro are taking my 86 year old Dad out so I doubt there will be much colliding. However, my Dad always feels better after he yells at some poor bastard who “might” eventually be in the way!

We got a clean start mid line and never saw the usual suspect and finished 2nd behind the x-21 from the new sails thread. Heard there was the usual start line foul this morning and no one protested. It promotes bad Sailing tactics...
