For what it's worth, the engineering behind a drop stitched inflatable boat is fully eyewatering. Even with all of it happening in a mill in china where it's all done, the price just has to be high.

Just go back a few decades and thing "Alfred! Get me the rapid inflating Bat-dinghy!". The party trick of being a blow-up is a bruce wayne level luxury.

DRC
Despite how expensive it is, a Tiwal (or whatever it’s called) is about the same price as an ILCA and it seems it likely performs better.

I think both of those questions have been answered in the course of the thread. Either directly or in one of the videos that have been posted . 😀

Rocket and SOL have nice hulls, but I like the cockpit of the Sunfish hull better; I can lazily slide my butt while switching sides.
Rocket has a good hull. The hull form of the sunfish and the Sol are the same. The deck of the sunfish is s@@t . Loads of modern boats have better hull and deck forms than all three of them .
Would you like any more info ?

Boy did SA get soft in the last year. In the old days you guys would have flamed somebody for promoting a product without taking an add. It's a kinder more gentle world.

I got the impression that somone involved with selling the SOL did not show up until page 4. Not really their thread and the poster has only been pushing videos of SOL events and little else.

Fair point but to @ILYAScow 's comment, it might be a good idea for them to run an ad at this point so that promoting their boat on these pages is looked upon more favorably. They've had plenty of free promotion.

I mean Dave sponsors and helps the community he is doing the rocket thing the right way, why not do likewise. It baffled me and I thought I was missing something. Now if Cmac was donating all those new Sol's to the camp I might think otherwise.

I know Dave has loads of good will on here because of what he did and continues to for sailing in the USA.
BUT looking from the outside I see no difference to pictures of the Sol in their factory on a Sol page as apposed to Dave posting pictures of Rockets in his factory on the Rocket page. I also have no problem with either .

What a do have a problem with is when it’s like when a LP socket puppet starts a thread ( Portstar) about a new boat pretending to be a member of the general public. Looking for free publicity. 😀

Right, I meant to address that Fulcrum is a sponsor and that helps us get behind selling Rockets and UFOs on his behalf.

In a sense, yes. Support those who support what you do/love. It's like supporting the sponsors of a regatta. You see a company like SeaBags sponsor an event, so do a little shopping with them next time you have a need...etc.
Well just maybe CMac just might be the next sponsor of something. The word on the street is that he may have fallen into the entire Sunfish market with his Sol as the class powers that be are in Springfield to dump the entire current setup.

Here's hoping. Most companies have done very well with Sunfish. It's great to have energy to support the Sunfish and the future of the class, even if it requires a change in the cockpit shape.
