Race preparations are ramping up with the closing date for entries just months away. There are currently 8/9 boats lined up for the start from both sides of the Tasman; including a Swan 44, Young 11, Contessa 32, Challenger 39, Elliot 9, Rogers 36, North Sea 24, Verdier 40 and Dickson 45

Solo TransTasman Yacht Challenge is with Ray White New Plymouth.​

Sailing majestically into Port yesterday morning at 8am came Sarau with Malcolm Dickson at the helm. Sarau is the largest boat in the line-up for this race at over 16m long and 4m wide. The 2023 race is Malcolm's third... in 1978 by himself, in 2018 against his son and this time against his brother, Alister. Welcome Malcolm & Sarau.

The Solo Trans-Tasman Yacht Challenge competitors spend days at sea alone and pit their skills,
mental capacity and physical agility against ferocious weather conditions,
huge seas and the worry of being hit by a ship, whale or frequent gear failure​

What a fabulous evening tonight at the Ray White New Plymouth Meet the Skippers Evening. The drinks and the stories were flowing, and the skippers gave real insight into what ten days alone at sea looks like… very little sleep… hallucinations… freeze dried food…

We have so much admiration and respect for our nine awesome competitors. Make sure you join us on Sunday at Ngamotu Beach to give them an awesome Taranaki send off!!
