That 'Standfast guy' was Frans Maas. One of the most respected boat designers & builder in the world. In the late sixties and seventies the goto yard for Carter, Hood, Frers, Stephens, v.d Stadt, et al.Didn't the Standfast guy die recently when the keel fell off one of his own boats? I could be wrong.
Have a look over on this FB page.Would appreciate it if any one has any information about the boat, past owners or Frans.
Thanks in advance.
My family sold the boat that's seen in the video on the beach. They had Frans Mass build it in 1984 with a Scheel shoal draft keel. In her time, she was a great boat. It has some IOR influence to her desogn but nothing extreme.Would appreciate it if any one has any information about the boat, past owners or Frans.
Thanks in advance.
We use to call them Standstills.I've always been puzzled about the name "Standfast" for a line of sailboats.
Was their advertising slogan: "Faster Than the Average Rock"?
