State flag on boat

Seeing as my boat is state and not coast guard registered I want to fly the California state flag from my boat in lieu of the US ensign.

What is the flag etiquette in regards to this, I have found plenty of information regarding flying both flags but nothing pertaining to just the state flag!

We're documented and we fly the Cali flag off the stern of A5. Besides, the flag of Dumfuckistan has been hijacked by the Magats.

I did occasionally fly an Impeach Trump flag until he got impeached...twice.

As DrewR said, flag etiquette requires that a vessel wear the national colors. The fact that a boat is state-licensed is irrelevant.

So your choice is to (i) comply with etiquette and fly either the US ensign or the US yacht ensign, or (ii) do whatever you want (while some people get all worked-up about such matters, law enforcement generally cares not one bit).

Anarchists by definition will invariably choose the second option.

P.S. Don’t forget to post some tit pics.

I have, or used to have,  an ancient Chapmans with wording something like: "improper flag etiquette is a sign of ill manners..." or something like that. I was going to name my Laser "Ill Manners" but never bothered.

One year, I saw that West Marine had a coupon for half-off on US flags for Flag Day. (For those from elsewhere the USA has a pseudo-federal holiday in June called "flag day.")  So I decided that maybe I ought to have one for the boat, since I was headed to WM anyway.

There was some discussion at the check-out, but the computer recognized the coupon.  The "Bubba" types in line behind me thought that this was a great idea, and rushed off to the flag aisle.  When I left, everyone was scratching their heads, trying to figure out why the coupon wouldn't work for pirate and rebel flags...

Come to think of it, I never have actually flown the thing.  It's been in the bottom of a locker gathering stains for so long now, I'd probably be embarrassed to display it.

Back in the day our Canook bowman Clark said to fly this providence’s flag on the rig as a substitute for the Maple Leaf while visiting  with the Stars Spangled Baner at the stern when we were racing in a LHYRA  Championship Series in Bayfield Ontario, Canada.  Something about Bayfield in the Atlantic Provence…

It worked! We won the overall that year!
