One time it happened to me I was borderline hypothermic by the time I got in. Obviously it depends on the size of the leak, what layers are underneath and any number of other factors.

Seconded.  I used to sail with a guy whom had a bunch of drysuits.  When out frostbiting in the I14, there were a lot of emergency get back to the dock events.  We were on the steep part of the learning curve at the time, and this was 10 years ago, so maybe things have changed, but I would opt for a steamer wetsuit on the 14 any day of the week.

I was in Bristol last Thursday for a demo sail along with a UFO owner who was there to get some coaching. At 65, I was younger by seven years. Both of us had a great time. Will I be able to handle the boat? Yes. Will the learning curve be steep? Yes. Will I have a great time learning to fly? YES.

Dave has created a cutting-edge boat that appeals to (and can be sailed by) pre-teens to those of us on Medicare. Congratulations!

My deposit will be in the mail today. I fully intend to be known to the locals as "that crazy old guy who does 15 knots in a 9-foot boat".

I find the sail is earliest to pull up when the shrouds are loose and I pull up from the rudder (that bends the mast to match the luff curve, so you’re not fighting the sail.)

Wurstfest I will have the pleasure of hosting Mr. David Clark at Wurstfest I, November 3-5. 
We will have at least three UFOs lining up as a class at Wurstfest I.
Dave will be conducting a seminar for all of us who wish to attend on Friday, November 3, in the afternoon or early evening at Lake Canyon Yacht Club.

But I am wiling to be corrected.  I put up, now its your and your ilk's turn.  Show me a professional maritime or rescue organization that recommends or requires its professional members to wear a wetsuit under a drysuit for cold weather rescue or other similar operations as opposed to providing and specifying wicking materials and fleece as it the case above.

Either way, wear whatever you like.  Darwin's rules decides the winner.  But you guys perhaps illustrate why women live longer than men.

In a miracle of last minute scheduling, the entire fleet was able to reschedule from the AYC regatta to the weekend after in Bristol. This is a huge deal. In bristol, at UFO HQ we can actually throw a fully focussed UFO regatta and clinic instead of simply having a line at AYC. Also it doesnt conflict with the Annapolis boat show, which I was planning on burning rubber to be in two places at once as much as possible. The fleet got a line at AYC and i'm obliged to be there in support to teach, troubleshoot and generally assist, but I'm also obliged to hit annapolis at 100% and try to win boat of the year. No win situation. My sales guy, kirk, in his first week on the job, looked at my schedule and said "you're crazy. This will barely work". He urged me to find a winning path in my no win situation. So I called the whole fleet one at a time and asked if people could do and would like a reschedule. It turns out to have been a "yes" on both counts for everybody involved. It even turns out that a couple people who couldnt do AYC could make it to Bristol, so the turnout is higher AND the RC will be fully dedicated to the needs, desires and development of new UFO sailors. I'm dumbfounded and relieved.

Has anyone sailed a UFO in the Ocean?  I love the concept and am close to buying a boat, but all of the video I have seen shows the boat in relatively flat water and my sailing would be on the east coast of florida where we have 2-3 chop whenever there is any wind.  Will the boat still fly????

We had a couple of feet of chop off Larchmont for our demo day in 15-20 kts on Saturday.  Attached is a video of someone in his first couple of minutes in the boat.  Very low resolution, I know, but he was flying despite the chop and foiling inexperience.
