Survivor Bermuda - Damage Control

Day one and 1/3rd of the fleet have serious damage.

Obviously minimising risk is a close 2nd behind winning races, how will this affect race strategies?

I imagine Ian Murray is having kittens, will there be rule adjustments?

Are there any possible tweaks that can reduce risk as it was very lucky no one was seriously injured?

Team BAR were deemed to be at fault, a boat at fault has no right of redress, so they have to race tomorrow, or lose points. It doesn't look like an overnight fix, or can they cobble a patch together?

I'm guessing they'll create a 'virtual zone' around each boat.....keeping them physically better separated but still allowing penalties too be assessed!?

It's too late for this edition but if something tragic does happen , losing a hull would be a option .

in the interest of safety of course .

We were inches away from a very gory tragedy in full color and multiple views of course merely because of the design of the boats and a minor miscalculation with major results .

Jimmys an arse and never thought what would happen if you "rubbed" over an open cockpit too shallow to hide in before he opened his big gingah blowhole.

It's been obvious that some thing like this could happen for a long time. At least the grinders can duck. ETNZ have built a death trap

A bit of an oversimplification I think, Max. It's not that there are 2 x hulls, so much as the probability of much greater speed differentiation between competing foiling yachts. That doe not happen between monos.

As they say in the road safety messages, "The faster you go the bigger the mess".

ETNZ is safer as the shrouds attach to the outside of the hulls, the cyclors have more protection than the grinders... Until the rig comes down

Edit... Correction, shrouds are from the inside of the hulls on ETNZ, so the cyclors are in the firing line too

This AC is shaping as the next version of Survivor, but with no hot chicks in badly fitting bikinis.

ETNZ was outvoted before the first episode and had to play by themselves on an Island far away

France tried to charm their way into the next round but were voted out

Oracle won immunity in the round robins but made an alliance with Japan

Angry Ben and IP are providing much entertainment but aren't playing nice and are copping penalties

It rained and blew and boats became see through, but the good bits got blurred out

PB got a hug from his Mum after breaking the tribes boat and losing them valuable points in one of the challenges

ETNZ are hoping for a care package from home after running out of parts

As we head to the merge it looks like there will be a blindside from Japan

This is reality TV at its best, but viewer numbers are rumoured to be way down due to technical problems getting video off the island.
