He's still there, hatching an egg I guess. Probably wearing out the bathrooms at that little restaurant - washing laundry in the sink. Hurricane season isn't over until February this year, probably, so gotta be careful.

A broody hen that's too dumb to know it's sitting on a golf ball.

Funny that you should mention wearing out the bathrooms at Pirates Cove. The urinals are made from aluminum pony kegs! Not going to wear those out...

I’m new here, but have watched some of his older YouTube videos when he was building this thing.

Wonder why didn’t he do any research on how to sail a junk rig before building the rig? Or maybe even tried to go sailing with someone else with such a rig before building it?

Can this thing even be sailed single handed? Seems like his sails and all the poles/battens weigh quite a lot and could be a handful.
Research? From Captain Crunch(aka Doug)? I do not believe his idea of research corresponds with the common understanding of that word. It appears his idea of research begins first with a brain fart, materializes as a Rube Goldberg contraption ,followed by a painful series of learning curve speed bumps and concludes with a snarky video proclaiming to all and far how He does not need his mothers advice, the governments advice, experienced individuals advice or any other whimpy weenies advice. Hell! Donchya all knows duct tape and home depot hardware is the thinking mans tools box for marine stuff?! Real men don't need over priced genuine marine hardware......buncha losers!
I may be going out on a limb here but I suspect that a simple cement mixing trough, a couple of broom handles, some twine and a used bed sheet strung together would cause the cement trough to "sail".....downwind....like any other piece of flotsam and jetsam. With that said, it may then be possible that Captain Crunch too can "sail" his junk, after a fashion, but never alone and only for as long as it takes before he runs aground, rolls over or the rig(s) comes crashing down posthaste....each of which will be heralded as features not found on boring,over-priced factory built boats.

Phsssttt, you guys, very funny (and 100% expected)
Ok, I'll start: For's'l on a (deep) broad reach. add Mains'l, add mizz'n. Jibe mizz'n, main, fores'l. Start coming up. Wind speed >5 kts, <10 kts. Boat speed?
Zero. He forgot to raise the anchor. I have no idea how to calculate capsize speed.

First, understand that D'ugh's dream was less about "sailing" and more about "sailing away" from all the "small-minded" people in his community, in a big ass pirate boat, like a legend in his own mind.

D'ugh actually does research but then just tosses it aside and does things his way, because D'uhg is the smartest. Duh'g always knows better.

Doug has been upchucking a video every few days now. This is the latest - nothing much to see unless you think spending 12 hours on a sand bar and listing 15 degrees and calling the USCG is fun. He called them, and then complained that they asked "Can we call you back to make sure you're ok" Doug was like......."Don't bother me!!!!"

The most insane thing is his personality on Reddit. He started his own Reddit sub SV_Seeker vs the normal SVSeeker (no underscore) - and he's gone full****** on there.

You can watch the video if you want - but:
Crew only knows to follow Navionics- they steer by looking at the chart plotter - and not what is in front of you - total lock on the screen to navigate.
Lock to lock the wheel is like 30 turns - they call it "arm day" on a 100 pound wheel.
They go aground.
List 15-30
None of the crew know the rules of the road
He needs a fishing boat to get him off a sand bar
Throes them a stuffed rat for their work
Doug claim victory.

This man is a fatality waiting to happen.

I think Doug has flown the coop at Pirates Cove. The tracker still shows him there anchored but if you click the last position on his track that was Nov 8 so I think he has turned off the tracker. I drove over to that neck of the back bays today and to some friends who just moved into their recently re-modeled on the next Bayou over from Pirates Cove. They had gone to the Yacht Club chili cook off yesterday one door down from the bar and they hadn't seen the Seeker anchored there. I wanted to drive the long way around to come home just to see for myself but it was rainy and the Ga game was coming on. I think Doug has gone into stealth mode and moved on to Pensacola. Maybe he is chasing the big Americas Cup foiler around in his plastic chase boat trying to learn to sail his chinese junk by watching them...

Yeah, that makes sense. I can't see an upside for him letting out his exact location like that. Every grounding and anchor drag is the source of limitless internet mirth.

I really enjoy internet mirth.Particularly the limitless variety! If one seeks an "up side" for Captain Crunchs' precise location, it may just make it easier for rescuers to find him for when the inevitable occurs. But I tend to be an optimist like that.

Well I was too lazy to drive over to Pirates Cove today but I did check the Garmin tracker for the Seeker and it is still the last Nov 8 position. Not online there so I googled Pirates Cove webcams and it seems they have three at that fine establishment. It was just at sundown here when I looked and the cameras (still) seemed at first glance to be live judging by the lighting. One cam is over the bar, one in the parking lot, and sure enough in the third cam looking to the South towards the ICW and Bear Point in Orange Beach you can clearly see the unique profile of the S/V Seeker anchored just where the Garmin logs last saw it! I feel like the kid who uses Flight Aware to track Elon Musk's private jet travels. I doubt Doug will try and buy me off like Musk did on that kid but I just wanted to add to the mirth by posting this here!

Before anyone notices the date in the web camera must have not had the time and date properly and I haven't zoomed in on the image yet but I would eat my hat if that is not the Seeker out past the docks on Camera 1. I bet if one watched the Bar Cam you might see Doug the man himself! I'm satisfied the boat is still anchored out there so am going to go watch 60 Minutes instead. That would be a great idea for a 60 Minutes story about the 'Boat the Internet Built'!
