Google "501c lookup", go to IRS and search name "sea chest foundation" for available records. Sea Chest Foundation is a charity, not an actual foundation, per the IRS determination letter. Years 2018, 19, 20, and 21 sea chest fndtn reported less than 50k donations each year, so less than 200k total reported for those years. Unknown if he declared a piece of equipment or hard supplies donated as a $ donation. Not sure how the sale of hats, shirts, mugs, bilge rats was accounted for. Not sure how the youtube income was accounted for.
If his IRS reporting is as shipshape as the rest of his work, probably be best not to rely on the numbers in his Form 990.

Patreon contributions are fee for service rather than charitable donations.
Debatable when you make your Patreon page look like you collect money for ocean research.

Patreon authenticity guideline number one:

You can’t create fake pages or collect money for things you’re not actually doing

I haven't smoked anything since I was in my early 20's. Didn't like the effect on my ability to concentrate. YMMV.
Have a read about state effected learning.
Somewhat interestingly, if you study a topic while under the effects of cannabis, and are then tested while in the same state, your ability to learn and recall is better than if you do the same thing straight and sober. Same effect for alcohol, but to a lesser extent.

The trick of course is to be able to maintain the same state. Learning while stoned and sitting an exam straight gives a poor outcome. Learning straight and sitting an exam drunk is even worse.

I'm pretty sure that I play guitar better after a couple of drinks, due to all the time I've spent playing after a couple of drinks. Of course, I just might not care how bad I am because I'm drunk.

Doug comes across as having done all his planning drunk, and the building while hungover. No care in design, no ability in execution.

Guilty! 98+ percentile for LSAT and SAT, and two bar exams passed on first attempt. :)

This is why studying engineering while listening to Led Zep at high volume wasn't useful.

Exam rooms were always too quiet to replicate study conditions.

Not so. Some of us both like building things and are good at it.

Ditto. Hasn't stopped me from drinking, however.

Some friends of my age (the far side of 70) have started vaping cannabis after decades of none. I might just have to give that a try at some point, if I ever quit working.

I have to admit that the quality of the weed you see legally for sale looks pretty mind-blowing compared to most of what we saw 50 years ago, unless you happened to be taking a vacation in SE Asia paid for by Uncle Sam.

What I want to know is when Doug is going to move that boat into some weather.

uhhh, I think there's a reason he finds himself alone - and pushing her out into real seas is no longer on the docket. Why not a change in plans to do what is called "the loop" - circumnavigation of the eastern US, all in nav channels or near-shore.Mississippi river delta, Intercoastal around the east coast, up the st lawrence seaway and great lakes, back to chicago, back to the mississippi.

Music can provide some useful mnemonics though. If you listen to a particular album each time you study a subject, then running through lyrics in your head can prompt recall. (similar to studying different subjects in different places).
Neuro anatomy and Nevermind will forever be associated for me - When Wernicke's aphasia takes over completely, I'll just be muttering "Stupid and Contagious" at dumb people. Luckily a girlfriend was into Sinead Oconnor when I was studying object orientated programming, so I never have to think about it again.

There's a Colvin Gazelle going down the river system ATM, started in the lakes. Glacier Gem. Seem reasonably competent people, he did an engine extraction/rebuild while alongside. They have a YouTube channel.

That would probably be the 2nd most prudent and do-able thing for that BSO. Just two little hick-ups though: going upstream against the St.Lawrence river. Does anyone know how many knots this BSO is capable of making good? There are stretches of the St.Lawrence where the current he will be bucking will reach sustained 3 to 6 knots on the nose. That will be a whole lot of diesel and a whole lot of days before he gets up to Kingston and Lake Ontario.
The other hick-up: Dugg is a boating idiot pretending to possess knowledge.

The 1st most prudent thing is to motor back up the Mississippi , find a relatively safe and out of the way ox-bow and call it a day.

Thanks for that,FKT! Nice looking Colvin and really ship shape with their set-up for handling their own mast raising and all. Just finished watching their launch video and their run down river to Memphis.Looking forward to the resolution of their engine grief.

They both seem like very nice, low key folks and competent with both handling helm duties with aplomb. What a breath of fresh air after the assfuckery of watching and listening to Dugg doing a downstream run with a boat full of ex-cronies in his BSO!

Thanks again for pointing out their YT channel!!
