Jud, we are monetizing the site for our new LIS fishing masters.
Dude - hence my call for visual evidence in reply to Epoxy’s disappointing suggestion (in his post about bras, etc) to leave it to our imagination. In short, I can’t take much more of Doug. How about a breast diversion? (That’ll help monetize for the LIS fishing masters…sex sells: oldest trick in the book. Doug’s a grizzled old fart with a grinder and a grey five o’clock shadow…not much sex appeal there :) )

I dunno - showing evidence seems like the perfect opportunity for a major DD or DDD (E in England) thread diversion…

…how much battering from this Doug-obsessed thread can the august halls of Cruising Anarchy withstand before the hallowed edifice comes crashing down…before the stout bulwarks of this mighty ship are rent asunder by the multiple breaking waves of bullshit…DD or DDD as a short break, please… :)
Jud, just to be clear, you have quoted 167149 but somehow it is showing as if you are quoting me. I know nothing about the finite element analysis required for things stamped DD,DDD or if one should be back in olde blighty, E.
Just thought you would like to know and make the correction. Ta.

Righto - thanks, Pete. Post error - I think had (originally) done a double quote reply (quoting two previous posts) and accidentally deleted the one to the (peculiarly named) 167etc.

In any event, my message still stands. We need photographic evidence - a DD or DDD diversion from Doug’s grinder and welder mayhem - or I shan’t last to the end of this thread. LIS fishing masters be dammed. It’s off-topic, and I don’t care.

No worries. I too am all for diversions popping up from the fairer sex!! It may be the only way to stay excited about this BSO slo-mo train wreck sorta happening in real time....sorta.

ok you're bashing away to weather and things are getting a little sporty waves are getting up and all things not tied down are getting tossed about, pic one gal is foredeck, pic two gal is on runners, if those whoppers don't bounce in harmony as in all together, and remember there's a lot in motion here, how would it negativy affect windward VMG?......... perhaps one for the boffins

You totally need a NA. I have told this one before but it's still funny.

A long time ago at a party my wife and I were hosting (well before you could google these things) the discussion got to be what is the volume of a breast cup? Is a B twice an A or is a C 1.5x a B?

I declared the only way you can solve this is an experiment. We got a big mixing bowl, took it to the bathroom and filled it with water right to the brim. One at a time, the somewhat tipsy friends went in to the bathroom, disrobed and plunged a tit into the bowl, displacing a volume of water equal to their breast size. They then measured the volume remaining with a measuring cup. Careful note of volume and bra size followed.

After each woman went, the next one had to fill the mixing bowl back to the brim before their turn. All was going well until one friend went in.

"FUUUUUCCCKKKKK" she shrieked!

I was the quickest on the uptake, maybe being a bit more sober.

"Warm water Lynne, you were supposed to use warm water...."

Starboard!
Good, real life experiment. Now, can we get back to estimating the volume of air in Doug’s head? It has 4 holes and only 2 of them have been cemented shut. One on each side of his head where advice was getting mixed in and causing problems.

Latest Video.

Doug did the cut down one "batten" freehand with a skillsaw, he did a good job.

Talks about how he was inspired by dutch racing barges (which I saw someone mention here or on reddit yesterday, showing the same youtube clip) More table saw montage, nice high energy keltic music.

Doug included an invite to join the facebook group, again dishonestly suggests that being nice and being a real person with a real face are all it takes to be allowed to speak there.

Doug gets a little lost in the fog. Looks calm. Then treats us to a montage of him using ratchet straps and ladders and all kinds of things to pull the batten straight as he welds it back together with the flange in the middle.

He adds a block to the forward sail halyard for a 2-to-1 advantage, I remember him disparaging the idea as a waste of energy but I'm not going to hunt for the clip. The block he used looks very small.

Man watching him toss an antislip drawer liner under his ladder so he doesn't fall does not inspire confidence.

And he is saving the full sail raise for another video!

Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age - but that seemed like a totally different Doug then what we've been seeing recently. His "Uncle Fester" look is gone, his condescending tone, his general jack-ass-ness - all gone. He seemed happy and content. What is going on? Is it an act, or did something change?

Did he get laid or something? Good for him if he did. He really reminded me of the Doug from 15 years ago.

Possible. Seems more upbeat. He does have quite the floating chick magnet.
Every time he cuts the mainsail lifting lug off and repositions it and rewelds it back on I am left wondering why he doesn't construct a longer lug with a bunch of holes a couple inches apart, so he could move the connection without having to cut, weld and grind. Surely he must have seen a farm implement or two with a row of holes for the top link position.
Is the boat stowed upside down on the deck a safety item or spare tender?

There's a pattern I've noticed with fans of Doug and/or the clown shoe across multiple sites/communities in that they rarely if ever are willing to admit that they are, instead giving you some imbecilic runaround as the reason for engaging with people who like to point and laugh at the fiasco unfolding.
Why is this?

Also, anything larger than an F cup requires baffles as per 46 CFR §58. Any True and honest boat builder would know this.

Clearly the results of the Great Bra Cup Displacement Experiment were documented on the naval architects' favourite media - a cocktail napkin.
