Oh yeah you can massively overbuild with straight grained knot free forest grown hardwood and if you haven't got the stamp it is not going to pass.

At the same time you can have a knot filled twisted stud with a check going 90% of the way through it and so long as the two halves are still connected and it has the stamp it counts for half the strength of a normal stud.

Definitely sounds like you have the worse of it.

One of my neighbours was a shipwright carpenter. He built a post & beam house. Got into a big argument with the building inspector who said the joints & pins etc weren't to the building code and therefore he wasn't passing it. When invited to try to break one of the joints with a sledgehammer his reply was that the strength wasn't the point, it wasn't to code. The argument that it way exceeded code wasn't received.

Ultimately my neighbour won the argument by going over the inspector's head.

I've done that myself by hiring a professional certified engineer to assess structural integrity etc. Their stamp totally supercedes anything the building inspector has to say on the subject and if they're stubborn the courts will decide in favour of the professional engineer. In fact my big workshop was certified by a professional engineer because I didn't want to get into an argument with the inspector about the framing and it was faster, easier and less stressful to just pay a professional his fee to double-check what I wanted to do. FWIW it's built out of old growth Tasmanian hardwood straight from the mill, semi-air dried then erected. Because once fully seasoned, you are NOT going to drive a nail into it unless you use a nail gun, and not always then either.

Back on topic has Dougie gone anywhere yet?

That's just you being flippant. I take positive positions all the time. I answer questions and respond to specific points all the time. Sealions don't do either. A sealion would ask you to prove that they are a sealion to waste your time and energy. I'm telling you not to waste your time or energy.

Doug thinks he overbuilt seeker. He thinks it's invincible because it is made of steel. His whole argument for why he doesn't need a snubber is that his boat is strong and made of steel unlike those weak fiberglass boats so his chain stopper can handle being jerked by the chain without worry of ripping it out of the hull. So hopefully he doesn't go anywhere with pounding waves.

Well that's just another example to add to the 'Doug is an idiot because...' list.

The snubber is there to stop the jerks pulling the anchor out not pull the post off of the boat as everyone here knows - surely he's just taking the piss? He can't really be THAT dumb.

You can pick my boat up and dangle it from a crane by its samson post. But I've still got and use a snubber because I like to sleep and not drag anchor. And I don't want any unnecessary loading on the anchor winch either.

The first time he dragged anchor a whole bunch of people told him to get a snubber on. But his only ocean sailing experience was a green water cruise to antigua aboard a delaminating composite ketch. The windlass ripped loose and one of the things he did was put in a backer plate and so he is hyperfixated on using a snubber to move the load away from the bow (the strongest part of a boat) to a cleat at the rail. He's dragged anchor before and people have suggested a snubber, but he knows better

That's all just religion

Yeah, been over two hour since the last AIS report. No bridges the rest of the way to Pensacola. No need to go outside unless he tried to get into Bayou Chico. I guess he is in stealth mode. Now who bugged the Seeker with an Apple Airtag?
Folks over at reddit figured out from 2 recently published photos of $eeker with the dock and $eeker with a tall building and some other buildings in the background where his fix is or was. Right around 30 degrees19'27.71"N, 87 degrees21'47.42"W as predicted by some here on SA. Southeast of a public beach accomodating a taco stand if you go on google earth.

According to Mr.Google, the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club is also close be, so he may be able to fuel and pump out if they have a dock and a will to take Sinker alongside. But maybe only pussies pay for such services.

Edit. Maybe not Dugg's kind of place. From their website:
"Visitors must identify themselves by presenting a valid reciprocal yacht club membership card and club number to the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club staff. Reciprocity is granted to all GYA members. Services are paid your day of visit."

Jeebus, enough with the metric vs whatever!
Where the hell is the sealion lawyer when you need him.
this forum desperately needs moderators that dont take a month to ban someone and to actually keep people on topic. "we're bored so we're going to post stupid shit that is unrelated to seeker in the seeker thread" is really stupid. why the fuck did the people who made this website make like 1000 subforums? just for fun? the last 10+ pages of arguments could have been from 15 years ago because this is like the millionth time this has been brought up on the internet. glad the boomers on sailing anarchy finally set the record straight about metric vs imperial

heres a topic the europeans, brits (lol) and aussies can shitpost and foam at the mouth about for the next 20 pages:

i think circumcision is fine, and it alleviates a lot of hygiene and health issues

Hey, don't blame me, I only made one smart arsed comment.
Oh, I see you did. My very first downvote. I hope I get a badge!

Male or female circumcision?
