Maybe he can put that dinghy(?) on slides and a winch system so he can shift the weight of it to the high side. That would be so ingenious and show once again how amazingly smarter then everyone else he is. How heavy is that thing and how does one get it off there? When she is about to go over you release the straps?
Excellent idea,cb! And if that does not show the world how brilliant Dugg really is, he could just knock it out of the ball park by adding some lead ingots inside the dinghy! What a lever arm, what a real man, what a hero Dugg would be then!! Besides, he has lots of lead ingots stashed throughout the BSO, especially in a few fuel tanks up forward.

Somehow the YT Algorithm showed me this video, don't know if you've seen it:

Looks like 14-16kn to me.

Vessel finder had them at the start and finish of their sail trials yesterday, with 3 hours of blankspace in the middle. It listed right around 10kts of wind at both ends of that period.

The small 30 footer sailing past them, is nowhere near 14 or 16 knots. At least it does not appear so based on the wake from the smaller boat.

I think @opcn was estimating wind speed, not boat speed...
Impressive heel for Force 3-4 with a reefed main.
You are on to something, JIH. From the first 3rd party video posted upstream, I was presuming all the talk about speed had to do with the BSO, not the wind.
That'll learn me to get ahead of things, not to mention learn me the perils of day drinking, in the middle of the week, at home, while the wifey is out shopping. Thanks for the heads up and cheers to ya!

I actually thought it looked better than I expected, it did appear to be moving, it didn't fall over and there was some breeze. Not saying it's a good boat, but is anyone prepared to admit it may have done a bit better than some of the more dire predictions?
I’m not. When and if dugg encounters the actual ocean, and 30-35 kts with waves, I have no problem putting money down on there beng a cascading series of catastrophic failures in pretty every area of that heaping pile of shit.

When a 30' boat quickly sails past your 74' boat on a beam reach in 12-14 knots of wind...

At about 1:15 you see the wake of the 30' boat. It wasn't going fast.
Wait, are you suggesting a boat with a longer water line should be able to go faster than short little 30 footer?

Totally agree, I still wouldn't get on it for a sail, but it did sort of sail. I was surprised .

Now there's probably some of you naysayers that think that routing the plastic fuel pipe next to the exhaust through the pilothouse wall will lead to chafe and a fire risk but you don't realise that when it gets cold the fuel needs preheating! If it gets really cold he could put the exhaust next to the plastic fuel tanks too -when they get really hot they can bulge and that makes for more fuel storage which is just what ya need in winter! But wait he's already done that too! The mans a genius I tell ya!
