well there's possibly been a swing in planning there I'm picking, suspect that shiney new welder could be a part of assembling...... this .....
Apparently in the back of some pickup truck coming down from Tulsa, with crew to boot.
Knowing how Dugg was not raised by a mother who was a woman, he really will need to build two of these. One for basic motive force once his main engine seizes up nicely. The other to power indefinitely his generator so that he may carry on welding his manifold modifications until he has at least added another ton of useless junk "designed" to resolve: a) non-existent problems , b) problems of his own making, or c) satisfy his dream of learnin' till he drops. I fear it will be "c" in the end, as he has demonstrated a rather keen talent for absorbing absolutely sweet fuck all despite years of practice welding and reams of free advice.

Agreed. Watching reruns of bodgering the next thing, be it sheet blocks, anchor winch drive, anticipating paths of sheets, sheet winch power, hydraulics, plumbing, wiring, welding this, grinding that, transmission mods, table saw on the rail, stowable ladder build, compass mount, davit spreaders, heaters, rigging, main drive, exhaust, windows, portholes and so on really does get old as it's all the same; just a different thing being fucked up each time. My interest is dwindling.
Noticing lately he has a left hand injury, right ring finger nail is black, and he appears to have worsening cognitive problem solving abilities and is becoming shorter on patience. A simple thing like assembling the chain coupler on the winch drive frustrated the hell out of him to the point he just bodgered it more and called it good - not unique for him. He seems to get there sooner lately. The fellow in the latest video helping Dugh thread ropes through pulleys was critized by Dugh with a snarky remark for the way he was attaching rope to rope temporarily - not to Dugh's liking. The fellow gave Dugh a look that summed it up. I'd have exited stage left immediately and told Dugh to shove the rope up your ass and do it your way then. I'm outa here. On the other hand I'm choosing to not help Dugh in the first place - he is toxic and best avoided.
Perhaps his lack of success, lead and carbon monoxide poisoning are taking their tolls. He has quite good skills at video making yet he has failed to show one video of his boat convincingly moving under sail. He has gone dark on actual sailing - no videos and no tracking. All such videos are 3rd party. I'll be interested in seeing what happens when the main is fully hoisted and set, and the vessel is in some swells and waves - sea conditions.

So he ends up using Harken roller bearing sheaves to replace his rusting homebuilt ones. May as well buy the well proven Harken low profile flip flop blocks which would be self aligning and not foul.
I don't understand how he could fuck up making something as simple as a sheave. I made all of mine for the jib, fore and mainsail, they're at the top of the masts, they've been there in the environment for 4+ years, the sails go up & down without a hitch, I never even think about them.
It's not hard. If he can fuck up a sheave, there's no hope for him.

It is all getting a bit sad on Seeker. As he sinks deeper and deeper in this self-inflicted morass, it is getting less and less amusing to poke at his hubris here. That's as close to sympathy for the Dugg as I can get...

I've long thought the same thing. He has that tormach 770 with the "lathe" head (can turn a part but not as fast or as rigidly) but he also had a lathe in his shop for a decade. I never understood why he didn't crank out dozens of blocks and instead bought the cheapest thing he could find on amazon. He even has a CNC plasma table (still!) and a small brake.
There's a big difference between owning the tools, and knowing how to use them.
Kinda like the big difference between owning a BSO, and knowing how to sail/operate the damned thing.

I don't think anyone knows how to operate it well since it's not well designed.

No need to be like that about it... if I only stuck to doing stuff I know how to do, I'd never get anything done.
I bought a 4 tonne horizontal boring mill without having ever run one before. And a IH Drott tracked loader without ever having driven a tracked machine.
Learn by doing...

to my untutored eye that seems to be sailing rather well
I am yet to see a smidge of humble pie from the shit posters further up the thread who gleefully piled in and made insane predictions about how the boat would never sail, would roll over as as soon as it hit the water and attacked anyone who said anything positive about dougie boy.
I admire his energy and focus.
I admire his ability to motivate a bunch of old blokes willing to lend a hand and give them a fun bonding experience with doughnuts and cookouts while doing so.
Seeker is sure as sugar not tallyho..... but dougie has achieved more than I ever have in my small voyages in underpowered production shit boxes.
