Just open up the bus windows. Florida hasn't got mosquitoes, right? As summer approaches I wonder if he has AC. Assuming the boat never gets out of some bay in FL it's going to get extremely stinky onboard.

Right. The "watertight" doors are sealed by edges bearing against troughs of Smoothon Corp Vytaflex 30. I saw one pic of a trough where the painted sealant looked chewed up. It appears the latching mechanism on each door does not cam the door closed to press hard against the goop in the trough. Hence, while the doors look like nautical decorated sealing bulkead compartment doors, it is unlikely they are watertight, especially if the flooding occurs tending to open a given door rather than close it. You've got one hinged in and one hinged out in the cargo hold, the largest volume. Companionway lids and cargo hold lids are not watertight. Various other paths such as exhaust system in machine room communicate with the great outdoors. Probably no calculation on each compartment's displacement v. vessel displacement ~72 tons. No idea what the max bilge pump volume rate is. As built, it'll go under fairly quickly. Heeling, large swells might initiate the process. Doubt if the diet will fix it. Flotation blisters, outriggers, unlikely to be added. Quite a fix he is in.So, he has watertight doors below decks to keep the water from moving forward and aft, but non watertight deck hatches to in order to get the water into the boat? Makes perfect sense.
If I'm not mistaken you are unaware that Seeker had an electric dive compressor that Doug, for some reason, couldn't run with any of his AC power sources including the dinosaur 10K genset. Therefore Doug bought a cheap Chineseum diesel on Fleabay, pulled the AC motor and converted the electric dive compressor to diesel....I skipped through that video to find some jewels of inspiration. At 2:15 he mentions using the transfer case to drive the air compressor, instead of the properly engineered, sized and configured diesel drive motor. I have some experience with Bauer compressors. Suffice it to say, he's a fucking idiot.
Those things are great, I have and use far too many of them much too often.![]()

I read your comment and was about to warn you what might happen, but then I read the following pages and saw that it actually did.Lol. So in your world does vice/vise rhyme with advice or advise?
It's all good, any entertainment is better than the interminable sealioning.I read your comment and was about to warn you what might happen, but then I read the following pages and saw that it actually did.
I was too late to tell you, so I can’t say I told you so.
Yeah, I wish they would stop replying to him! It's all good, any entertainment is better than the interminable sealioning.
Another redditor shared this gem from the past, figured I'd pass it along.
For bonus points open the comments and scroll down to see him tell someone (Webb Pinner) who he knows works on an ocean research vessel that they are wrong.
Yeah. Saw that an immediately got the shivers. Holy shit.I saw him undo the latch and thought the same thing that the guy mentioned. But as per usual, Dougie says just be careful.... sure, when the boat is rolling about you should be able to just hold that door open cause you know..... you caught your hand once in a car door so now you know better. What a buffoon. Off with the fingers....
