Now THAT'S profound!!
I think it perfectly captures his ethos.  It's a fun game - try for yourself.  Example:

There is nothing that a [poorly engineered deck crane] cannot destroy.  But living a life in fear is living the life of a coward.  Better to die by the [poorly engineered deck crane].

I think y'all being far too prescriptive. ;)

I am happy to support Doug in whatever form of demise he chooses for himself.

The possibilities he created for himself are endless.

I'd not rule out death by a combination of tripping into steel mermaid titties, the subsequent tumbling into fecal matter gathered in the non-bilge and the resulting infection.

I also have to wonder if law enforcement will get involved.  Is he actually pumping his sewage into the river?  Are people's lives at risk?  Is the boat properly registered for State lakes?

Does he not have a holding tank?

I'd imagine this is a bit of a design oversight if he intends for this to be a research vessel; don't those often go to sensitive environments where pumping out sewage is kind of frowned upon?

Dougie only goes to manly environments. If it was sensitive when he got there, he'll make sure it's manly by the time he leaves.

He pretended to install some removable holding tanks but whether or not he plumbed them I don't know.  I'd imagine most divers aren't really excited about sewage falling on them while they're diving.  And researchers are going to frown on dumping sewage onto endangered species, etc.

Long before they get to diving they will be confronted with the shitshow that is Seeker.  The boat is so functionally deficient in every aspect than any person looking for a research platform who is actually legitimate will be uh seeking other collaborative opportunities.

It first has to stay upright with sails up, in a breeze on a beam reach.  Really looking forward to the video.

Sort of related - I am going on week long trip on a canal boat on the Canal de Midi in late May. Cheese, wine, bucolic landscapes etc. To paraphrase the brochure... "the law says you can't discharge sewage into the canal. But there are very few pumpouts. So the shit goes into the canal....".  Also "swimming is not permitted in the canal".

Will do. Will share fancy photos of us lounging on top deck, eating nice pate and french baguettes, etc.

Looking forward to seeing this city along the route.
Won't have a drone so will have to rely on stock images of it :)

We'll expect to see the video posted in the "Girl with patreon ... " thread! And we expect sub-heads like "Shock - Boulangerie closes for long lunch!" and "Shopkeeper fail to understand Canadian French!"

This too has been on our todo list for many years. Even if it goes badly, just lie in your report, so we can keep the dream alive!

On a side note, would you mind reporting back on that trip? Always wanted to do that
If you haven't, it's worth watching Maya & Aladino on 'Magic Carpet' as they used the canal system to go from the Med to the Netherlands. During the covid pandemic.

Their Med vids were a bit meh IMO and their current resto vids - well, been there so not a lot of interest. But the river/canal transit ones were great, I thought.
