Are they "accompanying the fleet" or taking part?

Is "South Passage" going too?

Thats a very good price... it costs $15 000 to race a Volvo 60 down

seriously, look outside to the realities

Dude, Im the best sailor in the world. haha. But seriously, do people pay to sail the Sydney Hobart? besides like room an board?
Some of us wouldn't get the opportunity to go

I'm paying to bring a boat BACK - how sad is that!

BUT... I will have spent a whole 6 days at sea & have crossed the Bass Strait - small steps... its the journey not the destination - I'm thrilled

Come on... how else am I going to drive a 60 footer under a kite & under supervision - there's none around here.

I have to fake I'm not strong enough to do something to get on the helm here (ooops dermatitis on hands is killing me & forgot my gloves <bat eyelids + smile>)!

Thrilled that the money covers the champagne & the caviar, the sex is extra. You have to start somewhere, sailing that is.

Just an interesting observation here. (NOT A FLAME OR BRAGGING)

'ANARCHIST' = paying for SH delivery

'NEWBIE' = 5 x Hobarts, 2 x Fastnets, 4 x LHI + numerous east coast races and a few Cowes Week's just for fun.

Funny how that works...........(note to self, must spend more time on internet posting to SA)

Even a Syd Wollongong, which was the hardest party/race combination. Race down Friday night, drink all Sat/Sat night, try to race home Sunday, attempt to go to work Monday. Great format, pity Wollongong Harbour couldn't upgrade and keep that one going.

Maybe I am showing my age by admitting to sail in that one hey??

The return can be lots of fun, and some great spots to call in at if the skipper can be convinced.

You can start with a short sail to Port Arthur and there is a great pub there (as well as some old buildings), then Wineglass Bay is a must.

Check the weather and maybe Bicheno is worth a call.

Slip across to Eden and, well, let's just say its worth stopping off there...........

Then all you can hope for is a quick trip home with a massive hangover (must be the water in Eden) and a great view of the Southern NSW coast.

Here's hoping you get to put a kite up somewhere along the track.

Another tip, in case you have not been to Hobart for the party, try to find "Shippies' and don't miss the New Years Day QLD. Well worth sitting on the rail and freezing you ass off for 4 days just to make it for that!!!

Best wife tells me that you can actually fly there(as she does), but why would you want to do that............???
