I've been a member for years but haven't posted much. Out of sailing for a while. I have a Bahama Islander 30 but the wife doesn't like to sail it.

She wants our old Tanzer 27 back.

This year alone I have tried with 7 different Tanzer 27 boats for sale. Three on long Island. One in Vancouver, two in North Carolina and one in Florida. Despite agreeing to price, every deal has gone south.
I really liked the boat we had. Hull # 0004. Built in 1982. These were built until 1986 i believe. I want another.

So, I'm here looking and pleading. if anyone knows of one for sail.

I'm so desperate I want to put my E-mail out there.

[email protected]

Condition not that important.
Prefer a fin keel. Inboard auxiliary or outboard.

I have a full set of crisp hank on sails and cushions.

thanks!

According to sailboatsata.com, the Tanzer 27 orginally was the Paceship PY26. Tanzer obtained the molds and renamed it the Tanzer 27. So you might want to find a PY26 and see if that works.

whats her complaint about the BI30?
The boat is elegant, gorgeous and quite well found. A bit tender for her comfort. But.
She cannot pilot the boat singlehanded.

Our Tanzer 27 had a Volvo Peta sail drive and shoal draft centerboard. It was a very stiff craft and handled with incredible ease. Almost impossible to bury the rail. Turned on it's own length in the marina. This under sail or auxiliary.

I know all that. The Paceship is not as well done, particularly the Interior joinery.
I have entertained that idea.

Same hull, yes However,
Frankly it is not exactly the same boat.

Sailboats.com shows three listed in the 7 -8,500 range , one in NJ, one in Delaware and one in Ohio
I believe I have tried with those. The one in NJ is at Liberty Harbor for $7K but they want another 5K for the slip and haul out. I have tried to reconnect but they ghosted me. I don't need. We could not make a deal.

The other two are unknown to me. I'll look iinto them.

There is one at or near Flynn's Marina in Belmore NY. He has a craigs listing and actually contacted me but since has not answered my calls.

Thanks crankcall

Here’s a 1982 Tanzer 27 for sale out of my club on Long Island - Disclaimer: I know nothing about this boat and am told there are ‘issues’. Might be worth a look - dunno. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/268119008622948/
I called this guy two days after he posted the ad. "LAST JANUARY!" Bought the boat. We had a deal at his listing price. Spent a week discussing how and when. He sounded pretty happy that the deal went so fast and so well.
Then he ghosted me. Wouldn't return calls or e-mail.

If this boat is still at your club, and still available, let me know as I really wanted this one. It is exactly for what I have been searching for years.

Here's a new listing for one in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia:

No affilliation yada yada, just happened to notice the listing and recalled your post...

Cheers!
Thanks for posting that.

They want $20K for that boat. New it sold for that back in '82 With a Volvo Penta sail drive.
Canadian bucks to American that's still $16K

These boats are selling in the $6K to $8K US range today. I would go a bit more for one in excellent shape but $20K? Never mind.

Happy to help out, so there's a monetary threshold to your meaning of "pleading" and "desperate"...

Asking and selling prices are mutually exclusive numbers, related only in terms of the negotation that goes on between start and finish? No worries, you already said "Never mind", I guess your definition of "desperate" and mine are a little different...

Cheers!

Checking for you - but saw the owner last Friday and he said he wasn’t getting many inquiries. Let me see what I can find out for you. (no affiliation - just at the same club)

I would just like to know what happened. I am not "making inquiries." If he still wants to sell, I am ready to make a deal.

Don't tell him it is me because I think he may well be ignoring me on purpose.

Thanks. I appreciate your efforts.

He still does not take any calls.

Yet his advertisement still runs.
Oh well, Someday, my ship will come.

The first mate and I spent last weekend cleaning up the Bama 30 Islander after 6 months of neglect. Only the deck and topside were dirty with scum and moss. A few wasps in the life ring pouch. Interior was virtually perfect.

Slept overnight after sitting in the cock pit just enjoying life at the Marina.

For some reason, we like the boat again. Same feeling I had every time I went to sell an old Mercedes. "Why am I selling this wonderful car?"

The Tanzer will, hopefully, come by someday. But no hurry.
