My best guess is that if TF, 'OE?,' sails an AC75 then it will be Alinghi's BoatZero when they move to their two AC40's. Hard to see reasons, besides maybe uptraining bicyclers and those systems, for any other legacy AC75's breaking cover at this stage. Hope we do see it though.

Most comments have suggested the new ones will splash in the March/April '24 timeframe.
Yep. They'll definitely need 12 months building time and more possibly.

It was around 5 months for them last time, October before the Feb CSS began (right?) for the B2's and so yes, April to August could be the timeline here too. Having only one boat this time could move it up strategy-wise, guess we'll see.

Can't see reasons? Same reason as AM, testing systems at scale.

I am just guessing that if other teams were going to go deep into full scale for initial development on legacy AC75's like what AM's strategy was, that the opportunity window has now passed for it. Looks like Alinghi is tacking too, almost simultaneously.

But participation cost would be less => more teams, representation of more countries => better RoI for sponsors.
True.
Personally I've not enjoyed any of the cups as much as those run in the IACCs, with 95 being a high point not only because TNZ finally won the damned thing but because there were a bunch of teams with at least 2 or 3 that were really competitive.
Aside from that, I miss the massive tacking duels and the like that just can't take place in these rocket ships.

I'm hoping Prada win this thing and take it back to real monos.

I think the protocol states that need to stick with these boats for another cycle, or was that the last cup for this cycle?

I have thought a few times that the last time I felt there was a ton of interest in the Cup was the last cycle of IACCs when there were a ton of challengers and boats being build.

These current boats are pretty cool.

They put in a buy out clause if the winner wants to change boat, essentially pay I think 30mil to Someone, grant? I dunno. then you can do what you like with the boat

AM has a new teaser on their Facebook page… “Something wicked this way comes”. New beginning on Feb 15th!
Talk about a lot of hype from AM! Announcement about an announcement about an announcement, etc…..

It does sound like they will have real sponsors and new logo. Trying to make the team more self sufficient and independent of the original backers.

Feb 8th:

They post something wicked this way comes. Stay tuned 15 Feb….

New Beginning

Feb 15th:

This is easy. Sounds like they will be launching their AC40, with new look branding and sponsors. I'm fucking amazing.
