Team Australia’s Trans-Tasman record attempt

Team Australia is chasing another WSSRC record. This one makes the Sydney to Hobart course record almost look easy!

Sean Langman, son Peter, Josh Alexander, James Ogilvy & Andrew Woodward will depart Wednesday (Sydney time) aiming at New Zealand, with their ears pinned back!

The sloop is Fidelis a work of art that Noakes has extensively refitted & currently maintains

Chookas for the Record, love how the tracker shows TA took a short cut through Watsons Bay exiting at the gap into the Tasman Sea

Yes, Yellowbrick refreshes in 15 min intervals so some corners may show as straight lines inshore

Team Australia are over the worst of the anticipated conditions & in moderating breeze. From Josh Alexander at 8.21am AEDST

“It was a rough night, 40 knots plus for a good 3-4 hours and mainsail only for a while. We are still in 30-32kts WNW with a triple reefed main and small headsail. It’s still rough.

There was a good moon earlier on but by 2am we couldn’t see the waves, we just drove it down the mine. It was scary.

We haven’t broken anything and no-one is seasick.”
