The flipping of the AC 45.

Should be a non issue at this point.

Parasitic in terms of people acting like parasites over the issue - pretty simple.

para·site (parə sīt′)

noun

  1. a person, as in ancient Greece, who flattered and amused the host in return for free meals
  2. a person who lives at the expense of another or others without making any useful contribution or return; hanger-on
Of course this thread is about Team Australia who were not aboard the AC34 when it flipped. That happened to Artemis.

I recently checked the Team Australia website and they make no mention of the Queensland Multihull club as their official challenger. There are also no names anywhere on the site that I could see.

It is, however, a registered company (34AC Australian Challenge Pty Ltd) that lists it office as being in Castlereagh Street, Sydney -- quite a distance from Brisbane.

We must presume that this mob have paid the $25,000 notice of challenge fee, but I wonder if they will come up with the $200,000 performance bond needed to be lodged by April 30. Then there is the question of paying almost one million Aussie dollars for an AC45.

While every Australian sailor would love to see an Australian challenge for the AmCup, is there really any group in the country who can stump up over $100 million for a fair dinkum campaign?

I'm still to be convinced this is anything but a pipe dream!
