Does the announcement (today's Tip and Shaft) that Franck Cammas will be partnering with Jeremie Beyou and Charal mean that he will no longer be in charge of performance for the K-Challenge? Or that he, Franck, does not believe there will in fact be a K-Challenge.

The French must be feeling quietly confident. De La Pierre looks to be hitting his stride in SailGP, and coupled with a Team NZ design package, they must surely feel at least a little confident going into the AC.

Wonder if the other existing teams feel a design package might be a worthwhile direction to go in?

LOL, are you kidding us. It took Quentin Delapierre a Full Year to figure out the F50. How much do you think it's going to take him to sail an AC75 with their Boat to be launched in April/May 2024. Time on the Water is KEY especially in the America's Cup. France will probably win a couple of Races here or there like Cammas did in Bermuda but they still face very long odds advancing out of the Round Robin Stage of the Challenger Selection Series even with a Design Package from TNZ.

PLEASE.

Maybe thats because the F50 is a shit boat. Its taken the best guys in the world a year to figure it out and they still can't.

AM had more time than any other team and ended up with a big fat 0 wins.

You don't know.

No, no they weren't. They lost their last race against Team NZ in the World series, as well as their first and second of the Challenger series as well. 3 in a row, crashed the boat, repaired it and lost another 3 in a row.

v Check out these images of the Orient Express Team AC40, currently under construction. The monotype is expected to leave the site early this summer, for a takeover in Barcelona next August!
⛵️
The 37th America's Cup will run in October 2024 on AC75s, but upstream teams will sail on monotypes (built at McConaghy Boats site), the AC40s, which are reduced versions of the latest generation of the AC75. These are the boats that the women's and youth America's Cup teams will sail on in the Women's America's Cup and Youth America's Cup.

There sponsor is the orient express?
AFAIK that's Russian owned.
Hope they don't get entangled in any sanctions.

Orient Express is owned by the French Accor (Hotel) Group.

But there are/were a few different 'Orient Express' variants so that makes for some confusion.

If Team France are quick learners and can get to grips with the AC40/ AC75 quickly, and they receive a competitive design package from the Kiwi's, they could well be competitive, especially given France is as competitive as the other teams in SailGP, France may be able to spoil some of the other teams plans.
