Total carnage so far. Lot's of mistakes, and now a downpour that wipes out five cars.

Seven cars out in the first three hours!

Half the course is dry, half is a lake

6.55 pm: It's pouring in the Mulsanne. Race control decides to announce a Safety Car phase, but it's not in time for the leading car of the GTE Am class, the GR Racing Porsche #86. Pera Riccardo hits the barricades of the track with the back of the car.

6.39 pm: Heavy accident for the #77 of Dempsey - Proton Racing. Mikkel Pedersen just makes it back into the pits. Also a driver change in the #6 - Laurens Vanthoor hands over to Kevin Estre.

6.22 pm: Accident involving two 911 RSR in the GTE Am class. The #16 and #60 cars collide but are able to make it to the pits with heavy damage.

4.55 pm: 20-minute safety car phase, caused by an accident of the #311.

We'll the've just finished the equivalent of two Formula One races, with 6 more equivalents to go. Three and a half of those will be in darkness, and as the weather report indicates, these will likely be in driving rain. No halts for rain, its just part of the fun.

Been doing this on the same piece of mostly public road, for a hundred years now, which includes a straightaway, were speeds approach nearly 200 miles per hour.

A true test of man and machine.

New general coverage live stream hard to find on YouTube. Suggest your cable source (MotoTrend TV, Discovery+) or watching via the in car cams (links in post 3 above)

Radio Le Mans provides a stable commentary; suggest you use that for your audio source:

Good written updates here:

At 12:05 Le Mans time, #7 Toyota crashed out - so no live stream

#8 Toyota in car here:

Very good piece.
Best driver of the Le Mans, good question...
I know one amateur who drove like a bat out of hell.

They missed that the Corvette had to swap engines between quali and race.
It won the the Nurnburgring 24hr too.

I really enjoyed watching Le Mans on Motortrend TV this year and I appreciate their committing so much air time. I regularly cant sleep, the repetitive revs lap after lap, the almost monotone play by play, watching the in car shots in the dark of night from the middle of the night...the rhythm the sounds the sleeping quiet countryside, ...it was a singular experience as the rest of the family slept
