So you're saying this and all general aviation accidents/incidents are a result of pilots not using a checklist?

Every aircraft comes with POH, and in that POH there is something called a checklist. Just about every pilot I know uses them...

Good luck getting your Flight Review or an IPC signed off without using a checklist. And why wouldn't you?
Why would you land without putting down your landing gear?

Why i s there a GA fatality on average once a day, every day for the last 10 years.

Do you think the oversight of GA is the same as in commercial aviation? How often do you do check rides? How often do you do time in the simulator for your Cessna? How many GA pilots are flying without a current medical? How many GA aircraft owners do meticulous maintenance in their aircraft? Why do GA pilots take of in conditions that clearly are not safe to fly in. Why are there so many fatal GA accidents? Do you not think the safety record could be better in GA? Why isn't it? There are only 106,000 GA pilots out there, not millions.

I don't care what you say, the statistics speak for themselves.

Why do you have a such stick up your ass about General Aviation? Seriously?

Regarding the airlines... it is not the FAA providing all of the oversight, it is the insurance companies. Go to any airline corporate or field office walk into the risk and compliance office and ask them who is paying them... give ya a hint, it is not the airline. Their mentality is, fuck you the passenger, we're going to make sure we're not on the hook for a multi-billion dollar loss.

Regarding your other questions, I can't speak for the other 105,999 pilots out there but:

Check Rides - every year, I and many of the pilots I know are part of the FAA Wings Program.. go look it up and see what it requires to be current every year.

Sim Time - we have a RedBird and a PI-1000 simulator at our local hanger... I can tell you they are well-used. My favorite is the PI-1000 - keeps me sharp for flying the G-1000 panel and is cheap to use.

Medical - go look up Basic Med...

Maintenance - there are these things called annual inspections.. Coming from PA you should know about the rigors we had to go through every six months just to keep our cars on the road. Don't think for a second the person signing off on that is going to put their neck on the line so you can save a buck. And don't think for a second I am not going to protect my investment, let alone my life, and the ramifications to my estate on shoddy maintenance.

Taking off... good question - can't tell ya, but why do people drink and drive smoke cigarettes, etc.....

The safety record could always be better. For a guy that has probably never logged an actual hour, you sure seem to be pretty angry about GA... Maybe you should get to know some of these people, hang out in their environment, etc... Not everyone bouncing around in the air in "Bug Squashers" is of trailer park mentality.

Have a good day Edward...

As ”they” say, there are two kinds of pilots. Those who remember to land with the gear down.. and those who doesnt…

Look like Boeing has figured out something Clyde Cessna did years ago...

Interesting, but what's the point???

" CEO says there’s ‘real intent’ to commercialize the plane
Boeing last year said no plan for new jetliner this decade"
When I was at Sikorsky, we had an Advanced Concepts group. A bunch of academically bright people, some really into radio control, few who actually built or flew aircraft. Of course none of the engineers really build the aircraft at a major aerospace company. There is a small subset of the population that is part of the team that builds something that flies. I assume these pictures and stories are coming out of a similar advanced concepts group at Boeing.

I recall your interesting post about the advanced helo you worked on that was only a test bed, but some of its' tech was used on a new version military helo. Is this a similar effort?

Just from the photo, it looks like they have enough area to provide substantial lift, especially at the speeds it operates at? Would like to read more about this concept.
Absolutely

Are you saying those struts could act as foils?
